How do I get the elec.connector off?(the big one that's next to the shift linkage)Can I leave the torque converter bolted to the flex plate? Any other tips that may make this go smoother?
Thanks-

I'm guessing the valvebody wasn't in the 'Park' position when you installed it or the fluid level is incorrect.

I put 7 qts. in. Even if the fluid level was low shouldn't it still shift? Yes I had to play with the lever to get it to bolt up. After looking at there's a "keyed" section on the linkage where the splines meet. It should be almost fool proof. Everything only bolts together one way.

engine running, idle in neutral for a few minutes, then start shifting between drive and reverse.. back to neutral, check fluid, fill if needed... repeat till fluid levels at full hot mark. these trannies are really sensitive to fluid levels. goodluck1

I was referring to the sliding mechanism on the valvebody itself, not the linkage outside the transmission.

Oh ok. I think I'll have to drop the VB and recheck.

Glad I could help. It's a common mistake and I did it myself even when I knew to look out for it.

In addition, if you replaced the transmission or rebuilt it you really need to get the transmission quick learned at a dealership or you risk damaging it.

I pulled the trans out to install the kit, no rebuilding. What is this quick learn you speak of? Never heard of it.

You won't need it, then. A quick-learn is a test the transmission does after new clutches to reset the clutch volume index (CVI). It can only be initiated by a dealership or now with a Snap-On tool.

I wonder sometimes why I even bother! serious
I took a little road trip this weekend and went to reno then to tahoe. Now it has a good drip coming from the front of the bell housing. I guess that front cover on the trans didn't seal properly. After all that and I need to drop the trans again! giveup
Also so something funny happened. Once, backing up out of a parking spot, the truck made a sudden jerk, like if I backed into something. Then again just before I got home, it did it again, but going forward leaving a stop light. Any thought? Normal?

Mine has started dripping too. That front cover is a piece of work. I think the newer trucks have a thicker cover that doesn't look like recycle beer cans. Next time I'll just buy a new cover and seal and throw out the old one.

As for the shifting I would give it time. The transmission analyzes every shift and takes time to react to any changes. ie. Higher pressure via resistor and stiffer accumulator springs.
