Hey Guys:

Quick question, sometime when I backup my truck I hear a loud strange groan, for a couple seconds and then it goes away. Recently I hear it once in a while when I take off in drive as well. Does not happen all the time either. it is not a creak or a mechanical noise (or a grinding noise), just a loud groan.

thanks for any info you can give.

I think I have the same noise. It's difficult to explain and you can almost "feel" the sound. Mine has done it off and on from a start and backing up. It seems to be worse with a load or on a hill.

I hope somebody has some ideas on what it is because I am stumped.

Yeah, I know. I don't know if it is just a noise or trouble brewing, it has been happening for about a year on and off.

my truck also groans, but only when i first start the truck up and put it into reverse. i tried a few things and this is what i found to be the case, the hemi engine starts and revs pretty high. and if you dont let it "calm down" to a full idle and put it into reverse your truck begins to move so your foot is still on the brake, the groan in my case were the brakes dragging, give that a shot let me know what ya think?!

I don't think mine is any kind of brake noise. It used to be occasionally in reverse and when starting from a stop for a second or two. It now seems to make the same noise even after accelerating for a few seconds. It is louder and lasts longer than it used to.

It is almost a "harmonic" noise, not any kind of grind or metal on metal type of noise.
