This morning I'm on my way to Dover for the race and I go to shift from park to drive and the shifter handle just slides up and down through the gears. The cable appears to still be connected. so I'm assuming that it's stripped. But the truck did manage to pop into low 1 and now will not start. Neutral safety switch I guess. Is this normal wear and tear for an 04? Is it an easy replace and can I manualy shift the tranny into neutral to start the truck? Or is this something for the more advanced to tackle?

Where are you checking it that it appears connected? It would seem to me that it isn't at one end or the other. Or it is broke. But I have no clue how these are designed on these trucks.
