I am going to switch to synthetic tranny fluid and was wondering if there is any way to get the old fluid out and measure how much i got out? Ablity to do it in the driveway would be awsome.

Thanks
Clint

Dodge put synthetic in these from the factory? If so is all i have to do is drop the pan and change both filters or should i try and get most of the old fluid out?

Yes. Anything other that ATF+4 will cause problems.

Thanks for the heads up. I am going to copy your idea for the trany temp gauge sending unit, is there a lot of fluid that comes out when you do that? Allso at the same time i am going to change my fluid do i need to get as much of the old out as possible or just drop the pan and change the two fillters? What fluid do you run. by the way the truck has 50,000 miles on her. I dont know anything before 34,000 miles though.

You might loose a cup full of oil if you let the truck sit for a few hours before cutting the line. For the oil change, just drop the pan and change the filters. Be 100% positive that the new seal for the flat-style filter is fully pushed in so the collar is flush to the housing.

I am using Valvoline ATF+4 since it is more available to me than Mopar oil and is cheaper.

Sounds good thanks for the helpful info. Did you just go to napa or other parts store to get your tee for doing your temp sending unit?

Pretty much. I bought a 3/8" NPT brass tee and barb x 3/8 fittings. My trans gauge came with the reducing bushings for the probe. (1/8")
