I need opinions. Does anyone know any thing about Duraflex SRT hoods? they have one on Ebay for $439 plus $100 shipping which doesn't sound bad to me. Here is the link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...-1500-2500-3500-SRT- Hood_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem27aa2e5d43QQitemZ170358889795QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories# ht_3923wt_948 It says it comes with a mesh grill..... is that all I need for this hood? Everything else I just remove from my OEM hood right? I appreciate the feedback! 2007 HEMI Ram 1500 QC Sport. Limo tint, Cherry Bomb Vortex Exhaust with no resonators, 3rd Strike CAI, Viper E-fan, MDS indicator light, AirRam Scoop/PW, Superchips, and E-cutout in the mail. |

You might want to talk to a body shop in your area first. You can save a few dollars vs buying the Mopar SRT hood, but unless you are a paint and body guy, or have a good connection somewhere, that savings and more will end up getting spent on paint prep. The ad says "These parts do not come ready to paint." Depending on the quality of the mold you could be looking at $700-$1000+ for prep and paint on a fiberglass hood that big. They do not come out of the mold perfect. It will need body filler, sanding and primed before painting. That equals labor hours. After spending all that money you are still not guaranteed a perfect fit.
If it were me and it was a unique hood....maybe, but it's not. You can get a Mopar SRT hood on your truck cheaper, or worst case about the same price, and it will fit right. I think mine was just over $1000 with shipping to Fl and paint ($325). The only fitment problem was I had to adjust down the pass side hood hinge. |

Thanks for the input. So where did you get your hood from?

Art at Henson Motors. I think it was $599. That was in 07. He is a sponsor here. If you call, tell him you are from HTC.
Here is another option. http://car-part.com/ You have to seach for 05 which will pull up 04-05, then for 06. These are in salvage yards. Give them a call. You may even find your color and not need to paint. Two will pop up for the 06 which are both in Phoenix for $425. I have bought stuff from that location twice with no issues. Very big salvage yard. |

Definitely call Art. I just got off the phone with him... Hopefully they will get some in. With Dodge being shut down there weren't any available. I had to get one that was damaged in shipping just to get one. There is another company that makes the SRT hoods..so I was told by one of their territory managers. Luverne is the company name. It's out of North Dakota, I think. The manager says they are factory spec hoods. If you can't get one from Art give me a shout and I'll have him get in touch with you.
They make all kinds of hoods, but most are fiberglass...not recommended by me, but some do look good. Ho, in case you don't have it, Art's number is 1-800-530-5337...ask for Parts, then for Art. Be sure to tell him your with HTC. |
