I have been wanting to get a new Carbon Fiber SRT10 hood for my truck. I thought it would look good on the black truck.
So anyway I like to be different from everybody else. So I desided to build my own hood. I started with this.

It's a 1970 Super Bee R/T hood. A friend of mine bought it about 10 years ago at a swap meet for $700. Then put it onto of his shed and forgot about it. Anyway the bottom frame rotted away.
So I bought it for $50.
I then proceded to cut it up.

Then I took a ride to Lake George and picked up my donar hood from Dicksgotahemi.

I did lots of trimming and fitting. The scoop is a bit long for the short hood. So I had to do some mods to make it fit.

Once I had the scoop fitting where I wanted I cut out the hole in the hood.

I then went through and got it all welded in place.

Then right now I'm up to the first coat of marsglass. Then tomorrow night I have to flip it over and make the under hood braces the will hold the scoops in.

So thats it for now. I can post up more pics as I go if you guys want to see them.

Thanks guys. Now I'm trying to deside on the paint. I have two options. All black hood with the scoops a different color. Or the hood and scoops black and the scoop painted a different color.
Then what should I do for the second color. I was leaning toward the whole hood black and the scoops Hemi orange to match my Hemi Sport badges on the sides. Or do you think the Hemi orange will be to bright?

Good question. The nice thing about the inserts being removable is that if you change your mind, it'll be real easy to make the switch. The first thing that popped to my mind was flat black but the Hemi orange would look good too.

The Rumble Bee guys are going to be jealous!

iagree Good to see someone using their own mind and common sense to build that hood. Congratulations on your ability to do so.
