I am asking everyone to post a pic and tell me which bed rails they have and if they are able to be used to tie stuff down(apparently the Mopar ones are show only).

I don't have a picture of mine but I'm using the Putco Boss Rails, go to the Putco web site and view them. They seem to hold anything I've tried.

I don't have bed rails but I do have two sets of those things that you put in the bed pockets. You can attach bungie cords, rope or straps to them. I use mine all the time and never have had a problem with them. They are also inexpensive and easily removeable.

iagree Mine are also the Putco brand, BUT, I do not like them because after only 2 years, the end caps are pitting and look pretty crappy when you get up close to them......I have been thinking about taking them off all together and getting a hard top tonneau cover instead.....but that is just my opinion...oh and I did not look to see where you live....that makes a difference too....I have the salt in the winter!!! Roll Eyes

I'm in north Jersey, so I will get the snow and salt. I also go down to the Jersey shore alot which also adds salt air/water lol. Do you guys know if the Go Industries bed rails are any good? They say they have stake pocket mounted bed rails in chrome for $161.95 for a pair.

The tough winters and the salt are probably what got your rails; I've had my Putco Boss Rails on since the truck was new in '05 without a problem. I was wondering if the rails could be powder-coated for protection and color-matching too? I have not seen or heard of anyone doing this yet.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I do believe that it is possible to power coat them and/or paint them the same color as the truck. thumb2

thumb2 the powder coating would be an awsome idea to save your rails and not add to much chrome

I completely understand about the winter where you live. I was born and grew up in Albany.
A tonneau is nice looking and will work for many people. It wouldn't work for me though. Because I carry to many large objects. And I don't want to drive aroung with the tonneau tilted up. Here in the dessert we don't have the rust and pitting problem that you have to contend with. So my chrome attatchemnt points still look very good after two years.

That's why I have a Retrax bed cover. Rolls up out of the way and is easy to remove if you have to. The anchor points in the bed will hold just about anything in place... I also use a bed extender for 99% of the things I haul. Keeps everything from sliding all over the bed.

Putco boss rails with Backflip cover. I've used mine as tie down points with no problems. Live not to far from you in Sussex County and they have held up fine for past 2 years now.

Do you have a picture of the cover open? I want to see how much room in the bed you lose.

Are they stainless steel or chrome?

I know you were not asking me about the cover but just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Big Grinhttp://www.bakfliptonneaucover...ew/260?idx=23&p=2097.
When folded up to the back window it maybe takes up 2 inches of space, plus it does come completely off if you want to. You lose some space, maybe 1 inch on the sides due to the rails that the cover sits in. I’ve loaded the bed with lumber, sheetrock, plywood, etc. for numerous projects that I’ve done around the house and only really had to fold the cover back ½ way. This is the G2 cover so is holding up much better then the G1’s that that had a lot of issues with. I do get some water in it now and then but I’d recommend it.

The bars in the middle are stainless and the ends are chrome covered. I had some clear coat flaking on the ends but when I called Putco and explained to them what the issue was they send me 4 new ones which have been fine since. http://www.putco.com/products....77-4f9c-3b13fed562ef
