My new really cheap mod (took the idea from a how to on DT). Made a grill out of aluminum gutter guard. Great mod for saving money. It took me about an hour too do. Well worth it, and it really doesn't look cheap like I thought it might.

I'm thinking I might paint my other grill now, white around the outside and black on the crossbars and leave the grill the same color, and shave the rams head.

I fastened it through the holes with white zip ties that were open by removing the old plastic grill. Can't even see the ties on the outside of the grill. On the 06 to 08 grills the inserts come out just by tabs, much easier than the push pins my truck has. The grill shell is 12 (I believe) 8mm bolts to take it off the truck. If you are planning on doing this clear coat the mesh before installing it, much easier than masking it off after it is installed. Oh and they are 6" by 36" strips (4 strips used) since i forgot to post this at the beginning of the thread.

Painted mirrors looks nice on darker colored trucks like yours. I thought about painting mine, but I have to break up the white or it gets to be overwhelming. I do want to paint my door handles at some point though. The aftermarket mirrors are nice, but as you said they are pricey.
