My wife wants to buy me a set of air horns for my 2007 Megacab. Has anyone installed them on their truck? I don't need the most expensive ones, or the cheepest ones either. I will want to mount them under the hood or under the truck. I'm looking for some that are loud enough that the next time some a**hole pulls out in front of me , I'll make them s**t their pants.

well you can spend upwards to 500 for a set of train horns (comes with chrome trumpets and compressor) or I got a set from pep boys (about 50 bucks) wired it into horn relay. makes me noticed when I need to be.

I always kid around saying I'm going to install an air horn to scare the crap out of them or put a grill and brush guard on the truck so I would hit them...and it gets more tempting everyday to do so.

Go to the truck stop pilot, ta, or petro any one of those and you can buy a set for about 150, and you just get a compresor to push it. Everthing should run about 250/300.

Interesting... I've been trying to think of a discreet location to mount a set of horns... I'm deployed right now, so I'm having to draw on my memory to imagine good mounting locations... Thanks for the pic! I think I'm gonna go with a two-tone set of horns... What size air tank did you use?

Hard to tell for sure from this angle, but it looks like the sticker says VOLUME 3L... If that's right, it would be a little under a gallon of air... Def sufficient as long as you aren't laying on them for extended periods of time! Where did you get your setup from?

I just bought a set of air horns. How did you wire them in?

While I was home for a little R&R from Iraq, I got a set of horns from Air Horns of Texas and it came with the horns, compressor, tank and all of the necessary plumbing. I mounted the horns on the passenger side of the truck so that they are visible in the bottom part of the grill (I have a hidden winch that limited my mounting options up front). I mounted the compressor and tank on the frame under the rear passenger seat. I ran all wires and tubing through the frame rails to keep them safe from random debris and also for a cleaner look. The wiring was pretty straight forward and even came with an inline fuse that I removed right before I came back over here. They suggested mounting the button on the dash, but I decided to mount it on the floor board near my left foot, but up high enough that I have to make a concious effort to activate it so that I don't accidently hit it.

Hope this helps!
