So this evening I began my project of painting my valve covers, changing plugs, and installing shorty wires. I am going to be painting the valve covers gloss black with high temp. paint. Looks like after 66000 miles that the engine is still really clean, no sludge under the valve covers. I will put up more pics after I finish it up. After about 45 min worth of work this is where I am.

thumb2 Don't let that rubber gasket slip trying to feed the cover in. That was a real PITA to me.

The covers are painted now and have to cure for a little bit. I changed out the plugs and found the gap on them at .060". Judging from the looks of the plugs and the wires saying 2004 all over them, I think this is the first spark plug change at 66000 miles for the truck. The plugs were paint marked too. Soon it will be back together and I will post up pics.

Thanks for the comments. It was fun to bake these on the truck, especially when the paint started to smell. No peeling though from the heat, so I did it right.
