Hey everyone

So my 05 ram 1500 has some surface rust on both rear fenders. Or at least on one of them right now. The other is bubbleing. I called the dealer and it won't be covered unless there is a hole there due to rust. I am seariouly pissed. I baby the hell outta my truck. If I get it sanded and repainted it will probably come back I am guessing. Another problem is I have a painted stripe that goes over each fender. And where the bubbles are, the pinstripe is in the area. Any suggestions? I really do not wanna buy new fenders. Maybe have them repainted and the back of the fenders undercoated?

I agree this is the way to go. But one bit of advise. I used to work at a dealership many years ago and they used to tell us to only spray undercoating where the customer could see it. So be carefull in your choise of a shop to do this work.

Most if the time the rust starts from the back. If you just sand down the bubbles and have it repainted it will come back.
If the holes are not all the way through sand blasting and a rust treatment will slow it down. But it will come back.
The only way to fix it so the rust doesn't come back is to cut out the rusted area and weld in new metal.

Just noticed a few bubbles under the paint right above my rear wheel Drivers side. Only option I can see is fender flares. Dont want to paint the bed. Or just get rid of it. Really pissed. My truck is always cleaned and waxed. This shouldnt happen

The fender flares will cover the bubbles. But I would grind them down and put some kind of rust treatment on it and some primer and paint before you put the flares on. Just keep the repair area small so the flares will cover it.

Is there any fender replacement pieces out there yet for our trucks? I know when i helped a buddy do his 79 F-150 we used peices that were available. If not i agree you have to do something with the exsiting rust or it will just keep spreading.

Roll Eyes I have the same problem going on with my rear fenders. They both have a little rust on them and it is really starting to show. I also have the custom striping on my truck and it is also around the wheel wells, but I have since covered it up with the chrome trim. Now I am worried that leaving the trim on them just might make it worse. I have been thinking about taking the chrome off, but now I am scared to see what my fenders will look like underneath..... Confused I definately feel the same frustration about rust on a 2003 truck though!! Especially when it is washed and waxed ALL the time!! dunno

What dealer did you use. My dealer said it has to be completly through the size of a finger before they will fix it
