I have an 03 black ram and I expect there to be some surface rust on the frame and what not living in michigan but the whole bottom of the tail gate on the inside is all rusted and the pain is bubbling and now I just noticed on the lower rear corner on the inside of the passenger door some rust showing through and its bubbled under the paint, can it be stopped before it rusts through? GRRRRRRR

The northern states are so tough on vehicles.

If you catch it now, you may be able to save it.

Removing the paint and sealing the metal with POR 15 and using a epoxy based primer will forstall it.

On the frame a 3M flapper disc and POR 15 will help also.

anyone have details on the rust warrenty from doge on hand ?? i am thinking my truck is too old to be covered anymore

POR 15 is JUNK on exterior stuff, sorry..
don't believe the hype..
good Epoxy is great though.. sand blast first!

I just checked my warranty page (I also have an '03) and under "PERFORATION" the warranty is for 60 months or 100,000 miles.

Mine ended on 31 July 2008 and I noticed the same rusting on the lower portion of my tailgate MONTHS AGO (stupid me). If I remember correctly, the warranty starts on the day that the vehicle is first sold, which in my case was 31 July 2003.

You may want to contact go to your local dealer and if you provide them with your VIN number, they can find out exactly when your vehicle was sold and when the different warranties run out. Don't mention anything about the rust-through until you've got the information in hand and if it's under the 5 year/100,000 miles, then you may very well be covered.
