ever since i bought my truck it had swirl marks from someone using a power polisher, i have wanted to get it redone to remove them but just never seemed to have the cash laying arround to get it professionally done. i kind of got forced into fixing it myself due to my own stupidity.... the other night i stopped after work to wash my truck, i power washed the entire truck then used the foaming brush to really get it clean, well long story short somehow the brush scratched the hell out of my paint. didn't notice it until today when the sun was just right.....i couldn't believe what i had done to my truck!!!!! now on most any other color it probably wouldn't be as noticeable but it really looked terrible on black, it was really fine scratching on the clearcoat but none the less it had to be fixed....
went to the local NAPA and looked over their selection of products, i settled on the Meguires SWIRL REMOVER and their High Tech YELLOW WAX used the swirl remover first, applied and removed just like wax, then waxed it with the Yellow Wax and i have to tell you the paint almost looks like new!!! in the right light some swirls from the wheel job remain but all in all for $25 and a little elbow grease i am impressed. the wax is the easiest i have ever removed and the shine is awesome! Maguires has gotten a lifetime user out of this deal! juat wanted to pass this on, hopefully it helps some one else out! 06 QC 4X4 Hemi Ram Custom Cold Air Intake Electric fan conversion Custom catch cans Bully Dog Power Pup 3" Body Lift Kicker 10" sub Kicker 500.1 amp will weld for food |

I used meguires crystal 3 step on my 18 year old car and it sure works awesome on older paint jobs. Meguires is good stuff forsure.
NEVER EVER use those foam brushes, there's dirt and crap in those things from people washing their really dirty cars that dont care. Ive actually let the foam drip all over my truck and then hand washed it with my own stuff and that worked pretty good. ---------------------------------- -2006 QCSB SLT 5.7L 4x4- Inferno Red, de-badged, black headlights, modded exhaust -1989 Celica Turbo 4wd...not stock |

see than's the thing, i have used them alot in the past with no problems, i powerwash them first to make sure there is no dirt left on them from the last guy....this time i got burned. at least i was able to fix it without too much trouble and i learned a valuable lesson to boot. i like the idea of dribbling the foam and using your own method of scrubbing, that's what i'll do from now on! 06 QC 4X4 Hemi Ram Custom Cold Air Intake Electric fan conversion Custom catch cans Bully Dog Power Pup 3" Body Lift Kicker 10" sub Kicker 500.1 amp will weld for food |

if I can't hand wash my truck, it goes unwashed..
if you clay bar, then seal yearly, and add wax every couple of months, your paint will thank you in the long run.. If you haven't used a clay bar yet...you have to try it. You will be amazed of what dirt comes out of your clear coat. Then after that, go over your truck with some wax. WOWWWWWWWWW You will be impressed!!! |

Drive thru is a waste of time and money on black anyway. I have not tried the clay bar though. I'll put that on my list of things to do. |

I wash with my own bucket at the car wash. Works great.
