You took your packs of to do the plug job, so thats no problem....and once they're out of the way I wouldn't imagine the valve covers being too difficult to get off, but not sure dunno

I really want mine painted too...but don't want to be without a ride for the duration it takes to paint and let em dry. I think Im just gonna buy some of the chrome ones to replace stockers.

Removing the coils and valve covers is not a difficult task. It took me most of the day when I painted my coils and installed new spark plugs, Taylor shorty wires and chrome valve covers. I just took my time to insure the coils were well prepared to receive the paint and clear coat.

I stuffed cotton balls into the openings of the coils when I gave them a light wash using mild dishwashing detergeant and an acid brush. I replaced the cottons balls after the light wash and rinse, then applied masking tape to the areas I did not want painted. The coils were painted using an adhesion promoter, primer, several light coats of paint and clear coat. The coils were painted over a year ago and still look good today.

The biggest problem you might run into is getting the large wire bundle free from the last valve cover bolt on the passengers side. Many have found it easier to pry it loose from the bottom of the truck. It is clearly visible from under the truck and once you get it started, it will pop right off.

I hope this information has been helpful and I look forward to seeing your finished work.

if you have that egr line in way, remove that too.
sand and clean real good..last thing before paint is some alcohol/water mix to final clean.

Took look at the valve covers and looks easy enough. But I was wanting to ask if there are any type of gasket/seal there that I need to be aware of or replace?

For the gasket go with FelPro. You can't go wrong with them.
