I just noticed the chrome rims on my 05 peeling and pitting. Does anyone have any ideas on how to restore them? New ones will cost over $1000.00. Not really an option at this time

Regards Joe

mine are screwed up also on my '05 Frowner
amazing how something that costs so much can be so sh&*ty! Thanks Dodge...
there is no remedy for this problem, unless you strip the finish all off and paint them.

Yeah mine are peeling too. I may take them and have them painted. My pal had some wheels painted a graphite grey on his honda and it looked nice.
I wonder if you could go over the wheel with some JB Weld and smooth them that way then just ruff the chrome and paint them?

Mine were pitting on the lip and inside the wheel...the dealer sent them away and removed the clearcoat from the aluminum portion. No more black bubbles.

Chrysler replaced mine under warranty in 07.
They were starting to pit on the rim edges.
The service manager took some pics and sent them to Chrysler on line. Twenty minutes later he came out and told me Chrysler would replace them.
They used to send them out to be redone.
Now they just replace them.
If you are under warranty,go get them looked at, at the stealership. Big Grin

iagree Same on my 03 QC 4x4. Thank the Lord it was free. Their price quote on the printout was $2500. Those rims are ridiculous expensive from the factory. I could have had a nice set of 22's and tires for less than that.

My rim lips really went south over the winter. That clearcoat on there must really be crap. How are they holding up as bare aluminum? Seems like the easiest fix.
