Is it less expensive to buy fender flares, hood scoops and such prepainted from the vender vs. doing it myself with (dare I say) custom rattlecan or having a local shop do it? I realize shopping around you could find comparable deals, just lazy and want to get you all's input.

I wouldn't use a rattle can. If your local shop is over priced you might buy a spray rig and small compressor. They aren't very expensive and you'll have it for other projects. Sorry your so far away, I have three.
I have to confess that I have most of mine done at a local shop....but then I'm anal about my truck. Hemi hat and breather box painted to match my truck was $40.

What color is your truck? Some parts can be bought from a dealership pre-painted. That's about the only to get them to match. Check with Art at Henson Motors, 1-800-530-5337...ask for Parts, then for Art.

I like painting all my own stuff. But it helps that I've been doing it for 25 years.
Your better of buying the stuff painted if it's an option. They give you a pretty good deal lI don't think any local shop could match.
