Oh I have a feeling this on is going to cost me some money or a bunch of time! Drove the truck last night and all was fine. This morning started the truck and the 'lamp out' light was flashing and stayed lit. It was dark out so I turned the fogs on, good, then the headlights. Well the passenger one came on but the drivers side is out, I'm thinking okay no biggie I'll pick up a new bulb today. Well out of curiosity I checked the high beams, this is were it gets weird. The passenger light went out, and the high beam on the drivers side came on. What?!? Then I proceeded to check all of the lights, no parking, no signals (the blinker on the dash goes really fast!), and only the passenger rear brake light is working. I looked over the forum this morning and saw that a ground can go bad on the passenger wheel well, I checked that during lunch and it appears to be okay. Were do I start????

dunno Man I don't have a clue. That's a weird one. Since all the lights are connected tough some kind of controller it may be what's gone bad. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of lighting on these new trucks will come along shortly. Frowner

None that are coming out via the dash, I don't have a scan tool but my dad is going to bring one over on Sunday just to check. I am going to start with grounds under the hood as I did see a little but of corrosion on a couple of them. Is there a wiring diagram somewhere that shows all of the grounds under the hood? And this "control" box for the lights, where is that under the hood?

If you don't have any luck finding it call Art on Monday and see if he can give you a part number for the controller. He's a good "go to" guy when you don't have any idea where to look.. 1-800-530-5337, ask for Parts then for Art.

one thing to try is to pull one bulb at a time until you find a bad one. If they all work through one controller on bulb shorted will affect them all. I think th controller is built into the headlight switch and the relays are near the fuses.

UPDATE: Went through the entire system yesterday, cleaned and checked every ground under the hood, removed and inspected all lighting harnesses and checked bulbs. Removed the integrated power module, checked for corroded pins, found a couple but was able to clean them up. Did notice after getting the ipm out of the truck that you can see printed circuit board through holes in the plastic, the circuit board, where exposed, was corroded. Had to break down and take it to the dealer this morning to have them run the scan tool on it, I think its the drb III that can confirm the circuit that is causing the fault. So I am pretty much down to the PDU or FCM that is the issue. Sucks living in salt country...I will update the post when I get an answer to the problem! Hopefully this may help someone else out there as I can't be the only one with this issue...

Another UPDATE: Well $977.14 at the dealer today, and if your sick of me updating this just let me know and I will stop! Both the TIPM and FCM went bad according to the technician. TIPM was $427.20 and the FCM was $255.97. Also had PCM updated from 56029161AF to AH. All of this has resolved a bunch of issue. 1) The lights all work, including the instrument cluster, that was looking like a bulb was out on the left hand side, now it is bright as can be. The headlights are considerably brighter than before. I no longer have that funky wind shield wiper delay double/triple wipe thing. Which is extremely annoying once you notice it start. Funny thing is: I wonder if that is the start of the corrosion issue with the TIPM, that the wipers start acting up. I've read quite a few posts where other people have changed their relays and cleaned the wiper park contact and they still experience the same wierd wiper problem. What bugs me about the whole thing is that they do a great job with the design of the connectors with sealing the pins from the environment but on the bottom of the TIPM you can see printed circuit board. It's like taking the side cover off of your computer and putting it outside to run, its going to corrode!!! I wonder if the version they put in the truck today is any different than the one I had in the truck?
2) What ever the PCM upgrade was made a noticable difference with general drivability. I used to have surges during gear changes and now that is as smooth as can be. Still hunts for a gear when climbing a hill with the cruise on but I can forgive that.
3) It made my truck whole again, which that in itself is worth it. I feel a heck of alot more confident driving it now.

Anyways, I am going to take apart the TIPM and take some pictures. I will post them here when I get a chance.

I really hope this helps someone else out, but on the other hand I hope no one else has this $1000 problem. Certain money I could of spent doing cooler things to the truck!!!

Now it just needs a brake job, a tune up and she's ready for the winter! Man I can't wait to start doing donuts!!! Plus there's nothing like blasting through 2-3 feet of fresh powder with it.
