thanks..
got some paint from work yesterday so i could attempt to paint my billet gas door and tint my tails with real auto paint..
got a paint gun and stuff for it yesterday too...

then very eventfull day today...

woke up, and my buddy Steve came over..

took out my billet gas door, sanded it.

took out taillights, wet sanded...

primed billet gas door.

after finding out that red throw away cups are bad to mix paint in, mixed the clear and black the right way

(in no way in this thread am I saying I know how to paint, or pro, so don't take it that way.. this is my first time painting with a paint gun. air brushed in high school though. like 9 years ago freshman year lol...)

One coat of clear/black Duplicolor paints..

Couple more coats..

As we waited for the paint to dry, so we could wet sand and buff, i tinted Steve's front windows on his daily..

Compared after first door done.

i did the other...

We then wet sanded and buffed the lights.. waxed em, and installed..

Though, I forgot to take pics of gas door progress, we went to go get some new allen bolts and then installed the gas door again.

And both of the painted things..

Man, you "painted" instead of tinted them with VHT or something. Wow. I would have probably never had the balls to do that. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I don't know enough about paint to know that it would still let enough light through. Good for you! Looks good! thumb2

i went into it not knowing how..
I used model tint for my third brake light as you can see in my other thread, but decided to bite the bullet.
Figured, theres only one way to learn..
Cost of a billet door is alot more then what i spent on paint, gun, and stuff needed, so i figured I could strip taillights if they look like crap... It's all a learning process, and I had an overall feeling for what to do, and my buddy knows all the wet sanding and buffing, so he helped me with that.
it's not has hard as you'd think though.
