I am getting ready to install a roll pan on my truck and dont have the background in wiring. What do I have to do to switch from the 2 license plate lights into 1 light? What can I do with the trailer plug hookup also?

You can just tape up the 1 positive you are not using. I would remount the trailer hookup under the rollpan where it may still be used in the future.

Thanks. I was thinking of remounting the trailer hookup. wasnt sure if I should have used just one light for hookup and use the wires from both to hook them up.

First off welcome2htc
You can allways just crimp one side of a conector on the one you are not useing so it will be protected and wont short out.
