took a trip out to the shop in Bewdly today to insert some more coins into the machine today. I'm glad to see they are making progress. The block is currently being worked on at the other machine shop, but I got to see one of the heads, with some mild porting done to one of the intake ports. The other head had more done, but was sent out along with a fixture that required some modifying according to Tim. Before he does any further porting, he tells me he's gotta start with sonic checking the heads, to be sure he doesn't take too much away

This is his first modern hemi build. I'm paying extra for a deckplate, but it's worth it.

He tells me he's kickin himself for not getting into these Hemi's sooner. Chrysler dealers have been offering him motors, but he's turned them down in the past..LOL. Overall, he's quite impressed with the head design, and wants to do more work with both the 5.7, and 6.1. He's getting a 6.1 in next week. In the pic below, he's pointing out quench, and wants to work the chamber design into his race hemi's

In a couple weeks, I'll have some more pics. I have faith in this guy. His standard resto 426's make 650 hp, and the bad boy in the pic below is a 540 hemi with millenium heads that usually make 700hp...all motor. This one in particular, the customer had specified a detuned cam. He doesn't want the motor making more than 550 hp. Tim doesn't understand it, I don't understand it either, but apparently, it is going into a slammed 69 charger.....more for show and shine, and obviously, more money than brains

Is that what Sonja tells you to make you feel better Wink

Seriously though. He's just curious about flow numbers. He warned me not to go too big. I'll leave it up to him

What are you looking at as far as Cost on this build?

lets see...
I've invested $4500 in rotating assembly...$ 400 for a cam, and so far put $2600 into machining (cylinder overbore, line honing the mains, and porting the heads, bronze guides. The heads still need new valves, and springs so I imagine there's a few extra bucks to put in before that's done

I recently ordered a stall converter from Andre at Edge racing...$525 plus shipping...

...and I went back to FHO today to order a set of TTI ceramic coated headers...1 3/4" longtubes to 3" collector ...ceramic coated highflow cats and y-pipe and some header bolts.....that's roughly another $1700....

still cheaper, and more durable than buying a crate 5.7/6.1 hemi Smiler
