First off, what do you all think of this setup?

Secondly, and please excuse my ignorance, can the stock HEMI motor handle a supercharger without additional mod's ? I have been told that the HEMI can not handle the additional horsepower?

Little help would be great, Thanks

Oh Yeah, I have a 2009 5.7L Hemi Quad Cab

Just make sure whatever kit you are looking at uses 8 larger injectors for fueling and not auxillary injectors in front of or right after the throttle body. I've seen quite a few people with engines that went rich on one end and lean on the other w/ catastrophic results.

The problem with the 5.7L is the bottom end is really weak. It will handle the 6lbs of boost but the question is for how long. I wouldn't expect to get 100k out of a stock boosted Hemi. The 5.7L crank is junk. The best bet would be to install a 6.1L crank. It is basically the same crank as the 5.7L but is a forged steel crank and not the cast crappy 5.7L crank. The stroke is identical to 5.7L. I have been thinking about the Procharger myself. Just my 2 cents.

eveything I have read about says the 5.7 has no problems witht the procharger at 6psi, but your right, I in fact plan on installing a 6.1 crank, if anything else its a better bet for adding horsepower and torque, oh and yeah bigger injectors are a must, very bad for engine if hey aren't changed

So... Just out of curiosity why would it break the crank? The one hot rod tested made like 7?? with a stock bottom end but the author did warn about the piston strength? So just curious is it a tune problem or just plain weak?

So... Just out of curiosity why would it break the crank?

You have to remember, this motor was designed to replace the old 360 A motor. It was designed to reliably pull a 5,000+ lb. truck. Nothing more! And as most of us can attest, it'll go 100k, and more, quite reliably.
Any engine, and I guess anything made by man, has design perimeters. Exceed those parameters, and eventually it'll break. The 6.1 was designed to be a performance motor, thus, the heavy duty components. A lot of the time, the part that fails, is the end result, and not the root cause. A crank that spins a bearing, is NOT the fault of the crank.

Yes, but the rotating assembly should be balanced.
