I am very close to purchasing the mcgaughys 2/4 drop kit with spindles but, i have read a few posts over the past few months that some trucks are bottoming out on the rear axle. This is the main thing that is bothering me about lowering my truck i don't want the ride quality to be worse but i hate the factory ride height. Would changing the shocks prevent this? I was planning on using the old shocks because my truck only has 40,000 miles on it and they still have life left in them. Thanks in advance for any advice offered. dunno

I have the same kit but with front springs not spindles. If you haul anything in the bed it will bottom out. I also installed Mcgaughys air assist bags in the rear and you can pretty much haul anything.

Cool thanks Mike, I am taking a trip to FL. in August and i am driving my truck.By hauling stuff are you talking like motorcycles,4- wheelers and things like that? Everyday driving on the highway with just luggage in the bed shouldnt be a problem should it? There will be 4 people in the cab also. I just dont want to lower it and it be something that i regret.

Shocks wont keep you from bottoming out. I have the 2/4 kit. No block in the rear anymore because of the srt10 axel already has he spring pads on the bottom, but basically the same thickness as the flip block. On hard bumps it would hit and without drop shocks, going over dips and turns takes some skill to drive it lol to say the least.
