when doing a flip kit on our trucks i have heard to ensure that the spring perches are welded fully...can anyone give me a more detailed explanation of what that means?


2004 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT Reg Cab Short box 4X4

K&N w/modded airbox
Mopar Performance CNC Ported Heads
Shorty headers
Hollow cats
Full dual exhaust with X pipe dumped after the mufflers
Comp Cams XFI-268
Comp Cams beehive valve springs
McGaughey's 2/4 drop
Triple pillar pod with wideband air/fuel, nitrous pressure, pyrometer
Nitrous Outlet Hemi Nitrous Plate
NX 150 shot
Bottle heater, purge, and remote bottle opener
NGK 4306's
Edge 3000 stall converter
Superchips programmer
Mobil 1

Clarion in-dash DVD player with 7" flip up monitor, Clarion GPS, Satellite Radio, Audison 4 channel amp, Focal speakers, DRL's changed from headlights to foglights, Stainless Mopar nerf bars, Mopar tonneau cover, Line-X Spray in bedliner, Stainless fender trim, Chrome door handles, SRT-10 hood, 20" wheels off an 06, Billet door lock pins (wow!!)

Stuff that's still sitting in the basement - 6.1 Intake manifold conversion kit from Inertia Motorsports, Diablo Predator, TransGo shift kit, electric fan, Autometer transmission temp gauge, and 4.56's.

on some flip=kits,the way that the new spring plates sit on the other side of the leafs,and,the type of saddle brackets(what positions the top of the leaf to the bottom of the perch) puts undo stress on the spring perches.Some kits are prone to tearing the perch welds off after a couple of months. If you are ever going to drag race it(by your sig,I say yes),i would have someone beef up the factory welds while you have everything apart.It seems that Dodge kinda skimped in that area on some trucks.Hopefully slammed1 will chime in or another member who has encountered that problem.

awesome thanks man, yeah i have a welder at home in my shop so i can do it myself when i am installing the kit. i was pretty sure the issue was with the factory perches but i didn't know for sure, thanks for clearing it up! thumb2
