Is it possible to slightly drop the nose of the truck by loosening the torsion bar bolts?

Any alignment issues afterward?

I believe you can lower the torsion bars by loosening the bolts. I would recommend an alignment if you went a 2" drop or lower. Hopefully-one of the 4wd guys will chime in to verify this. I had worked on cars with torsion bars before(old 60's Mopars)that I lowered that way. Usually, you might have to adjust the camber on this type of drop.

Just remember that it can cause it to brake just like if you raised the front...

It will brake differently?

I was just tossing the idea around of going .5" to maybe 1" since i have the drop rear shackles now. Just to tuck the tires in a little more.

If there is any major drivability or wear factors it isnt worth it.

I think Rob meant 'break'. I don't believe there would be any issues with a .5- 1.0" drop. The cool thing about it is-it doesn't cost anything to lower it,other than time Cool

So on the subject of "breaking" things. What should i worry about in doing this?

Personally-I don't think you will have to worry about breaking anything. You might have to trim the factory bumpstops to gain a little more travel in the front suspension. From what i understand and remember about torsion bar suspensions-you never want to loosen(lower) them all of the way down and you never want to fully crank them all of the way up without re-keying them.

LOL, I had a 1987 mazda b2000 and I took the torsion bars out. Lowered the rear by removing all but the helper leaf and that main leaf spring, and 3 inch drop blocks. It never had any problems until a guy ran me off the road and flipped it.

Well i did it. I took about 3 full turns out of each one. I didnt measure it but it definetely looks more raked like it did stock. Now that i have the 2" drop shackles it just dropped the nose a little. I just dont know how far i can go with it safely.

I didnt notice any ill effects on cornering or ride. If anything it made it a little smoother/mushier.

I would like some measurements if you can get some. I would like to drop the front a touch too.

Can someone take pics of this? I don't want a lowering kit on my truck at this point, but would love to drop the front an 1" - 1 1/2" to go with the 2" lowering shackles/spring clamps in the rear...

That would give me a 1 1/2" / 3 1/2" drop, right? That's close enough to 2/4 drop for me!
