So ive already replaced the shackles and still itsnt doing it for me. Cant and dont really want a full lowering kit. Ive herd alot about taking leafs out over load or just one of the middle ones. Alot of ride quality issues and how much you can haul. Are thier any other ways to get it lower without takin a leaf out? If not which one should I take out? Thanks for yalls time.

Take out the shorty spring. It will give you an extra 3/4" drop.

you could also do leafspring clamps from auto zone theyre about 10 bucks a piece and you clamp down the overload leafs in the front. may cost you a bit of ride quality. i used to have those with the shackles you have and it evens the truck out

I just added the clamps to mine and got another inch or so drop. I may have to move them back a hair cause it is so level it looks high in the front but is actually 1/2 lower.

What does it do to the ride quality?? How do u put them in I can get my hands on any tool i need but the know hows a little different? How many clamps did it take, two? Does it change anything as far as what you can haul?? I like the idea of keepin all my leafs but still havin it leveled out and from your pick urs is freakin awesome, i got shackles it just needs that lil bit more.

It comes with two clamps. One for each side. All I did was measured back about 4 inchs from the front end of the helper spring and made a mark. I then put the u-bolt facing up and added the rest to the other side with locking washers. I then fastened them down and it pulls the other springs down tight.
I havent noticed any bad ride quality, but, it does feel stiffer and it seems to launch better. I pull my bass boat with it all the time and It doesnt sit any lower with the boat then it did without the boat. The truck sits lower now than it did in that picture to.

So the leaf spring kit I can get at something like autozone its universal or truck specific???

So basically it just brings ur other leafs down tight against the over load which also brings down ur truck right?? Probably a dumb question but thats not bad for the leafs??? Wouldnt want them to like snap or something dont think they would but thatd be a hella thing to happen.

Well do the instructions come with it or just do what u said measure back 4 inches and clampem down???

Sorry for all the questions I just wanna do it right and cant afford to screw something up, that and just thought its weird that with all the posts about lowering this clamping thing just kinda came up. Anyways thanks for the great info. will give it a try hoepfully get some pics up of the whole truck, the lil bit ive done to the motor, and my new grill from 3rd strike Smiler

yup, any autozone, orielly, napa, etc

So basically it just brings ur other leafs down tight against the over load which also brings down ur truck right??
that's exactly how it works

Probably a dumb question but thats not bad for the leafs??? Wouldnt want them to like snap or something dont think they would but thatd be a hella thing to happen.
this is an "old school" trick... guys have been doing it for 25+ years. I haven't personally heard of anyone having an issue

Well do the instructions come with it or just do what u said measure back 4 inches and clampem down???
the further forward (closer to the end of the overload), the more it will "pull down" on the rest of the springs. Side effect, is the further forward you go, the more it effects the ride quality. 4" back from front of the O/L leading edge is a good "starting point", your results/personal preference may vary

Sorry for all the questions I just wanna do it right and cant afford to screw something up, that and just thought its weird that with all the posts about lowering this clamping thing just kinda came up. Anyways thanks for the great info. will give it a try hopefully get some pics up of the whole truck, the lil bit ive done to the motor, and my new grill from 3rd strike
