I'm just going for a subtle drop, not slammed. Are the front springs and rear shacles all I need for a 2-4 drop? If it's a little less that's fine. I saw a set of eibach springs and belltech shackles for about $230. Does that sound right?

the shackles are only 2 inch drop at most. so it would really be a 2-2 drop

2" drop springs or spindles with a flip kit on the back will give you a level truck front drop 2" rear drop 4"

it moves the leaf spring from the top of your axle to the bottom which gives you a drop basically the width of your axle.

So does that eliminate the need for shackles? Is this better than using shackles?

thanks

Ok, you still have to have shackles on any leaf sprung axle.

If you get a flip kit, you put your axle on top of the spring, get longer shackles for a 4" drop, for a 6" drop in the rear it uses the factory shackles, doing a flip kit eliminates the need for drop shackles. So hope this helps some.

i wouldnt get drop spring and just go ahead and spend the little extra and do it right with spindles.... springs are cheap and trash the handleing and geometry of your front end... and if it is 06-08 then you cannot correct the caster camber from a drop spring and will be stuck with negative camber... i dont even know why they sell them for the 06-08 really..... on a older truck the whole front end is a little flipped around as far as the caster camber adjustments go....

I've got springs and they were able to align mine perfectly. They even sell alignment kits which is still cheaper than buying spindles

well on a 2006 i know for a fact it isnt possible so i can only assume the 07-08 is the same but i guess not....i had one of the first dropped 06's there were... mcgaughy fabricated my stuff on my front end and we tried springs and it was a no go had negative camber no matter what.... i think an alignment kit is just a getto way to fix a problem but thats just me i would rather just do it right and buy spindles but, do what you want its your truck....
