Are you sure you want to do that? I removed mine on my 04 and the ride was pretty rough. Everyone told me later that I should have removed the large spring and left the overload. dunno

i wouldn't do it at all on a QC (heavier) truck. dunno

there are MANY other ways to get the rear end to sit lower, safely.

You only lower the truck about 3/4" by removing the overload. Smaller shackles are easier to install with better results.

I believe he's referring to the 2" drop shackles. You can get almost a 3" drop by adding four spring clamps in addition to the drop shackles!

I got almost 5" with drop shackles and removing the overload. Wouldn't recommend removing the overload due to ride loss.

well i did the shackles and am still thinking about taking the overload off, i didnt do it the same day cause i couldnt get it off and didnt have the time to mess with it. in theory i dont understand how you guys are losing ride quality or even rated towing capability. if there isnt a load then the spring just sits there and it only works if you over load the truck. the truck will still be able to haul the rated towing capability but i know some guys like to push there trucks past that and that is when the overload spring comes into effect.

I didn't notice any ride quality difference when I took out the overloads and put in 2" drop shackles at the same time. I got 3 3/8" drop total in the rear.
