I have a 04 quad cab with a 2/4 drop and air assist on the back. I am wondering now that I have it lowered like I want it and can still haul as much if not more with the bags how do I make the ride more comfortable. I have set my bags at every psi imaginable and the ride is still rough. Could this possibly be my front end and not the back. If so what to check is wrong and what to add to make better. THANKS!!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem.... Belltech sport truck shocks made it %100 better. The 1st couple weeks they are a little stiff, but have loosen'd up, and work great. Lots of guys run the belltech nitro II's as well. Just make sure when you order them, that you match the shock lenght to the drop amount front and back.

Phil I have the Calmax drop shocks on there now and it's my second pair. They come with the DJM kit. Do you think the Belltech are that much better than these? If not is there something else I could maybe do? I have bags on the back but i'm not real impressed with them either. So I don't really want bags on the front unless I have to. They keep the back from bottoming out but the ride ain't no more softer. Thanks!!!!!!

dont have anyway to compare the two... never had the Calmax ones... i do like the Belltechs, they are stiff.... but in a good way. very aggressive damping. Really dont think i would even need the airbags with these. i'll take ya for a ride at the GTG if you want.. thumb2

Check to make sure your front bump stops are not riding on the lower control arms.

When I put the drop on my '06 single cab it rode so bad I didn't want to drive it. I have between 600 and 1,000 pounds in my bed at all times and I found 45 psi in the air bags works good for me. I also run the OEM tires at about 32 psi. It rides pretty good now.

Thanks Mike. I do know for sure that I installed the real short bump stops front and back. I will check tomorrow if for some reason they might be hitting the upper control arm. If it is what can I do. I'm gonna go ahead and check the ball joints again to make sure it ain't that either. And for the bags on the back the only time it seems I can get the psi right is when I have a heavy load. When it's empty I just can't seem to find the best ride. I've tried everything from 10-40 psi. 10psi it still bottoms out and anything over about 30-32psi it raises the back to much. Who knows man! I just want a lowered truck with a comfortable ride with whatever it takes. dunno givmebeer

gonna have to notch it then. Frowner

OR... I DO have some helper springs if you want to try them... they install on the front (or rear) of the factory springs. I ran them for a month or two... stiffened up the back a little.. but i pulled a leaf for my drop, so these basically just added that support back... really didnt raise it any either.

I want to notch it cause I would really like to go lower but the main reason I haven't is because of comfort. To be honest with you it may ride just like everyone else's. All my buddies say it rides way above average for a full size lowered truck. It's probably just worn out. It's really 10 years old instead of 5 since it's been wrecked twice, stolen once,100,000 miles and I drive it like I stole it. Fixing to get worse since I just got a superchip. Oh well I still like the damn thing. Atleast it has a HEMI!!! I don't know anyone personally that has a quad cab with a drop so I could ride in it to tell the difference.I guess I will have to take u up on that ride u mentioned at the Texas meet. Thanks fellas!

...on the issue of bags on a lowered truck,I remember reading somewhere that if you want a better ride-put the air springs in front of the axle;if you want better load capacity-put them behind the axle. I have been lowered for about 5 1/2 years now, but,I don't carry/transport too much in the bed. I am ok with my ride comfort right now.

I have the bags behind the axle cause I need the support. Is there anything I can do to the front end?

I forgot to mention this,do you have a really low profile tire on your truck? Lets say 40/35/30 series? With those series of tires,a drop and firm(and/or drop)shocks, yes, you would have a firm ride. This is because of no flex of the sidewalls coupled with little suspension travel. I don't have Belltech shocks on mine(when I replace my current Doesch Tech's,I will),but I hear that they ride well and are not super firm. I would say-replace your front shocks for now.
