look up Art from Hension Motors (sponsor section). He can hook you up with all the pieces needed to complete the OEM SRT CAI.

I dunno if it is good or bad.. it comes stock on all SRT10 Rams, so it cant be all that bad dunno

Art at Henson...1-800-530-5337, ask for Parts, then for Art. I didn't want to hook mine up like that. To many bugs and rain in the engine compartment. I like it clean! Big Grin

I went through the same same thing a couple months back. Upgraded the hood and wanted to use it to pull cold air. The deal is the srt truck uses the scoop to help cool the beast under the hood. It doesn't pull intake air from the scoop. You can find parts to divert air from the scoop to the intake, volant and Mopar performance make the 2 most popular. The problem is none of them will improve the aerodynamics of the scoop. You can pull air from the hood scoop, but it will never perform as a ram air set-up... Not what it was made for. I considered doing it anyway but could not justify the expense of the scoop and the intake.

Sure does look sexy though, and helps to remove heat from under the hood.

I opted for the Vararam intake, a true ram-air system with scoops in the bumper. I had some mixed feeling about the Vararam fit and finish, but the performance is undeniable. Big Grin Cool Big Grin I also seriously considered the BFI and the 3rd strike intake. That's my .02, hope it helps. Good luck.

X3 on the non-ram air.

Here is a good example of how much air actually flows in or even near the scoop. Sometimes I spray off my truck at the local self serve car wash and run down the highway at 50-70mph to blow it dry. All the water on the hood gets blown off and is dry, but the flat area in front of the scoop still has water beaded up on it.

The one thing that everybody seems to forget. The scoop may not be designed to function good as a ram air.
But putting your intake to it will work much better than just having it under the hood.
The intake does suck air so it will pull it's own air in through the scoop.
It's better doing it that way then sucking hot air from under the hood.

I was pretty dissappointed when I realized the hood scoop did not pull any air on it's own.

I thought the same thing about pulling cold air from outside the engine compartment through the scoop. It has got to be better than pulling hot air from the engine compartment. I just could not justify the expense of the parts required to do that. The hood scoop tube is $250-$350, that does not include the intake kit, that is another $300-$400.

Most of the good intakes have a heat shield or they are set way forward, behind the headlight, to help prevent pulling hot air directly off the engine. The AIR RAM Jet stream scoop is a way more affordable option to feed cooler air to your intake.

In my opinion the srt scoop intake parts are not worth the expense. Sure does look sexy though. thumb2
