I was wondering if anyone has ever used their flashpaq to check AIT on their trucks? I was curious because mine with a metal k&n always runs about 10 deg. hotter than outside temp if im running 30mph or more. is this normal, good, or bad?

With my RAMHAMMER I've never seen more than a 5 degree difference.

They will run hot if they are metal. I have had 3 metal intakes and the ramhamer was the best. I did not like the high temps with the metal tubes so I went with a airaid system. Down here in south Texas it is HOT. I like my airaid but the ramhammer was the best. I plan to go with a carbon fiber ramhammer next.

I have a home-made pvc intake that gets air from the hole in my SRT-10 hood. Flashpaq AIT sensor readings are 2-4*F above ambient temp at highway speeds.

anyone tried to wrap theirs with a reflective heat shield? Been wondering if it was worth it or not.

Example:

Here is my DA run with RamHammer taken a few months ago. The ambient air temp was 50 degrees.

5point7 hemi,
what did you do that datalog with? my Flashpaq only logs up to 4 thing at a time.

interesting temps, lot of fluctuation; anywhere from 14.4*F above ambient to 23.4*F above ambient. any idea how fast you were going?

since the RamHammer has done so well at the track, I expected AIT temps much closer to ambiemt temp.

I tried the Data Logging for the first time yesterday. Temp on the overhead was 80 degrees. Stopped at idle the IAT temp was 5-10 degrees warmer. Had the truck up to 35mph and the temp went down to 70 degrees at it's lowest.
I have the scoop from Airram and his powerwire (I know, should only work at WOT), could that cause the IAT to read lower?

As I understand it, the power wire causes the computer to think the intake air is appr. 10 degrees colder regardless of throttle position. If thats true, then your reading should be good!

It was from a dead stop WOT 0-80. I wound out 1st and 2nd gear and stopped recording when I hit 3rd gear.

Mine only logs 4 as well.Being the computer geek that I am, I pasted everything into an excel sheet, and then I went online and converted the (kpa) to PSI for each value and added that new column. Same thing with the Intake temps, converted them from Celsius to Fahrenheit for each value and made another column.
My best guess is that the 1-2 shift took place at 4.97 seconds into the run.

I have some of the fiberglass exhaust wrap and reflective heat tape from work and was going to try it. But just haven't gotten around to doing it.

If I go into work this weekend for anything,.. I will grab the material and post up a pick before install.

sweet!
would be interesting to see if it makes any real differences.. it may be worth having a "show" intake and a "track" setup. thumb2
