I have an '05 Dodge Ram Daytona just sitting in my driving that absolutely needs a cold air intake. Do I go with the K&N or is that brand becoming cliche? Based on the respected opinions of other Hemi Truck Owners...what is my best bang for buck? Performance increase is awesome, but I also want a real mean growl/snarl.

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Hey, Iam thinking treating my ride with a CAI as well, you're right there are lots of choices out there.I don't think K&N is the best choice since the filter is sitting "out in the open". I'm thinking that you might increase the air flow but still get he hot air from the engine compartment.
Go to Volant.com and check out their filters. It comes in its own box has a cool carbonfibre lid and costs about the same as a K&N.(check out stylin.com for their selection)
There's also a lifetime warranty and you can get an additional air scoop to "ram in" your air from under the bumper
According to the website you'll add some whoopass

I have a K&N, you'll be plenty happy with one. It adds seat of the pants power and a nice roar under heavy throttle. You can pay a lot more for something that looks "cooler" but they all do the same thing.

I've got K&N and it works fine.
But bang for the buck has to be 3rdstrike or make your own.

it's pretty basic to make one with 3.5" aluminum pipe, get the proper bends and a good cone filter and it's pretty easy to do a good job. keep in mind though that your entire intake system can only flow as much air as the most restrictive part will let through, a huge filter with small pipe isn't going to work well, same with huge pipe and a small filter. remember that no matter how obnoxiously huge the cai may be, your motor is still drawing the air through the throttle body, which makes it obvious why 5 or 6 inch diameter intake pipe is overkill. just please don't be one of those people who uses abs plastic sewer pipe to make an intake, can't get much more hack than that.
