I just recently installed a new CAI in my 2005 Ram Daytona. It is really anoying to hear a ticking noise. I removed the CAI and put back the original box and the ticking went away. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The Hemi tick has been cussed and discussed for some time. Some say it is the EGR doing it's thing that causes the noise. A CAI allows the noise to be heard. It is nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys for replying. But if it is EGR baffle are there any products that get rid of the noise. I received awsome gains in horsepower and low end torque and really want to keep the CAI.

An EGR baffle will take care of your tick problem. I have the AEM Brute Force CAI. I had the same tick. Installed an EGR baffle, and problem solved.

I originally bought my EGR baffle through Huskyknox. I don't know if he still offers them. However, Duane at 3rdStike has them. Check it out.

Just turn the music up a little more and if any one asks what that noise is, just tell them its the sound of performance.

My ticking stopped when I changed oil after 3,000 miles to Amsoil. Not sure thats what did it, but it stopped, nevertheless.

you sure its a tick, or spark knock? If it only happens when you are accelerating, and you have your filter pulling air from under the hood, its probably spark knock because you are pulling less dense hot air in!, if its just idle and sounds like it is comming from underneath then its probably the EGR, and Fuel injectors combined, they are very loud, especially after you remove the factory air box.

im not saying the EGR valve is underneath the truck, its actually on the side of the head on the passenger side and the tube runs to the back of the intake manifold but you can hear it more definite when you stick your head under neath your truck, sounds like a pen clicking.
