I just ordered one off of evilbay. I wanted K&N since that's all I've ever used in the past, but all I could find was the series 77/chrome ones. Found this one and it's black plastic, which is what I wanted, and it was only $255 for a new one with the shipping.

Question is, I saw somewhere on here that it is suggested to reset the PCM when you install a CAI...why? Also, is it as simple as removing the negative cable on the battery for a few minutes, or do you have to do something else? Will unhooking the battery dump all the info from the overhead?

The PCM "learns" the environment the truck is driven in and the way it is driven. When a mod like a CAI is installed it usually is good to reset the PCM memory so it can "re-learn". When the PCM is reset nothing happens to the program because it resides in a flash memory that keeps the program even when the power is off. All that is reset is the working memory containing the data collected by the sensors.

I've always just disconnected my negative battery cable to reset my pcm, but I lose all my radio station presets (it sucks).
I guess a better way to reset the pcm is to pull the pcm fuse, turn key to "on" position, wait for 3 chimes, turn key off, reinstall the fuse, and you're good to go. (I hope I have that right)

What I don't get is why would a "cold air" intake would be black? black absorbs heat. I think a white (inside and out) would work better.

And for what it's worth, I tried to pull my fuse and nothing happened. No dings, no improved anything, NOTHING. Just got a code upon next start up. Maybe it doesn't work on 2007s.

color has nothing to do with absorbing heat in an engine bay. a black t shirt on a sunny day, however, is a different story

How do you figure?

Black absorbs thermo and reflects little visible light.

White does the exact opposite.

Yeah, I made a post about it a while back. They confirmed the fuse # I tried it again with nothing. No other feedback so I gave up.

Weird. One way to find out for sure is when the fuse is pulled the engine wont turn over, if it does its the wrong one, unless you truck is "special". Smiler

Got the CAI today, installed it this afternoon. I have no ideal about fuel economy, but this is the first time I have added a CAI and immediately noticed a power gain. It sounds good, too.
