hey guys, im getting ready to buy the srt 10 hood but later on down the line i want the 6.1 intake manifold. would there be away, aside from a custom cai, that i could buy a 6.1 cai and make it work effectively with it? lets say that i end up finding one, would totally closing off the filter to only the scoop be a good idea? reason i ask is because i've read that people say the hood doesnt get good air flow. also, would i need to buy new fuel rails if i got the 6.1 intake? if so, what else would i need to get? thats a lot of questions but there's a lot of you guys who know more about this than me lol

It seems to me that the throttle body will be placed farther forward than the scoop with the 6.1 intake. Not sure though. Also I think inertia motorsports has a kit for it. http://inertiamotorsports.com/engines.htm

thumb2do it if you can and they look awesome and it will improve your top end I think I think you might have some tuning issues but you can solve that

I did the SRT/10 Hood and Buimper upgrade and the 6.1 intake upgrade, but the intake wont work on the 5.7 Timing chain cover it has clearance issues. So then you have to get all the 6.1 Accesssories and have to add an electric fan cause the 6.1 waterpump doesnt have threads to put ur clutchfan on. Ive got it all. Anymore Questions jus ask

Ice-Cld are you using a filter straight off of the intake manifold? I'm going to do this mod also but was told that a cai would give better air than the ram air effect would.

how much was all of that? i didnt know we couldnt our 5.7 water pumps. would the kit that houstonhemi showed be all that was needed? it says it's a conversion kit but idk how complete it is. im also unsure if that kit includes the manifold. if so, that's actually kinda cheap because xv motorsports 5.7 manifold is 500 bucks without fuel rails and what not

It doesnt sound like it comes with it. And it also sound slike you pay $425 and it works on trucks. But I would give them and call and see if they have done it before, and whats all neded. The coating also isnt very much and may be worth it. Ive herd they get heat soaked.

i have the conversion kit, although not installed yet. its a truck timing cover thats modified so that the ac compressor and alternator are moved out to the side farther making room for the throttle body.

also that kit does not come with the intake itself. those are very expensive. you will be lucky to get one for $800. most on ebay go for more than that

i didnt think it came with the manifold although that would have been a nice surprise if it did. moesperformance wont even list the price of the manifold on their site. i'll call sometime later and ask them what all the conversion kit comes with and if its a complete one. i didnt know the manifolds were on ebay though
