I am heading to MT from UT so plenty of mountains. I was just wondering if anybody knows if on the flat ground i can run with the tow/haul mode off as long as the trany isnt shiftting to often? I was just wondering if it would hurt the tranny at all? The truck and trailer weigh 10,900 empty. truck wieghs 7240 and trailer 3660. Oh and if anybody has a set of tow mirrors laying around they want to get rid of let me know.

Thanks
Clint

yes. BUT as soon as it starts hunting for a lower gear, or if it is not able to maintain a set speed with out bogging down, kick it back in to tow/haul. I actually get better fuel mileage when towing when i use tow/haul mode. Wink

why would you want to? tow haul still uses OD and it holds the converter lockup longer for less slipage. less slipage = less heat, less heat = longer tranny life. not sure what year truck you have but on my 06 the only thing tow/haul locks out is the MDS and it would never come on towing anayway. your best bet is to turn T/H on and forget it IMO.

X2....personally I would leave it in Tow/Haul mode...better safe than sorry

I don't use mine(tow/haul) when trailering my Quad trailer or pop-up camper, but they only weigh about 1200 lbs...

When I was driving up to Alaska I would use the tow haul mode when I was going up hill and down hill but on flat ground I would just use it like normal!!

I pulled a Uhaul bumper pull trailer loaded to the max from IL to DC to NC... I got better fuel mileage when T/H was on also! Also, when trailering horses, I always had T/H on... Percheron/QTRX (1600-2000 lbs ea) would cause the trailer to sway and really strained the tranny if T/H wasn't on... Just my $0.02!
