found myself with some spare time today so i decided to make an adjustable hitch, this is what i came up with. ring was cut out of 1" plate, body was 2" square solid and the adjustable part was made from 3/8x2 flatstock. the 2x2 reciever piece was beveled 25deg each side to a point in the ceter then Tig welded, it looks like a butt joint but it is 100% welded all the way through, just as strong as if it were cut out of solid. all other joints got 3 pass Tig welds resulting in a 5/16" fillet weld. overall i am very happy how it turned out. i cut 4 other 1" plates in a diffrent shape, i will drill a 1" hole in them and mount all the diffrent size balls to them so i can use it for towing too.

here it is with the black oxide coating, just have to weld up the last three ball mounts and spin down some pins and it's done.

Beautiful work. You might just want to change out the bolts for some quick release pins to make adjustments quick! No one can argue the beauty of a nice tig weld. I mig most of my stuff like this and pretty it up later. I know I can't tig like that and don't have the time to practice.
I truly appreciate your skills!

"I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." - Benjamin Franklin

i chose the bolts over quick change for the security, i have alot of time stuck into these and i would cry if someone walked off with my setup. i use bolts with nylon loc-nuts even for the receiver, i just keep two 15/16" wrenches in my truck so i can always adjust things when i need to.

thanks for the compliments, i take alot of pride in the things i build and appreciate the positive feedback.
