You need to take out the rear bolts from the bottom of the bed and lift the bed to remove the hitch...How much do you want for the hitch??

It was 4 bolts and would you believe when I had my cat back put on the smart guy at the shop welded a bracket over one of the holes I had to pry it off. Now I have no hitch no bumper and no spare tire on the back I bet she spins much easier now Big Grin burnout

There is one down side to removing the hitch... It helps steady the rear part of the frame so watch it!!

Those hitches were supposed to bolt on to that center bar with 2 or 4 bolts that pass through from the inside and the nuts should be on the center section of the hitch, its a 2 piece unit! I wouldnt run without that crossmemeber,

I took the whole unit off of my last truck a 06,2500. I had no problems at all. And the truck was used pretty hard being as I repoed cars with it. I had to remove it because it stuck out to far when the recluse unit in the bed was fully opened up and the tail gate would hit the tow hitch unit.

The hitch behind the rollpan will give that end part some strength then. I am amazed it was all one unit, all the ones I have seen and put on were the ones that were a 2 piece, interesting for sure! maybee another design revamp they did! LOL

Have to show us some pics of the hitch and rollpan install Id personally like to see that! Big Grin

The two pice one is the add on hitch. There are two ways our trucks come from the factory one is with the towing package the other is without... the without and with both mount the bumper to the crossmember the same the only difference is the hitch is welded to the bottom...
