How do I tell what wdh I need? I seen them with 550lb, 750lb, 1000lb tw but all rated at 10000lbs. How do I find what tw rating I need? Is the higher rating better or is to much bad? I was going to add air bags. Will these make getting a wdh not needed?

If your trailer weights say is 15,000 lbs I would tell you to get a 1200 lb hitch package that would mean the bars are rated at 1200 lbs and it would be just right.you would have a tounge weight around 1000lbs You want the trailer to be level when towing. You don't want it down at the hitch that would pull your front wheels up and up to high this will take trackion of your rear wheels. This all can be done on how you adjust your chains that go on the snap-up bracket Hope this helps you

My trailer weighs in the 7000lb ball park loaded. If I get one with a 1000lb tw rating I should be good right? I towed this tralier with my old f150 and it never saged like my ram so now Im trying to find the best way to get the ram to sit level. Would a set of air bags do the same thing as a wdh, or do they just get the truck ro sit level? I have towed the trailer many time with the dodge and it tows like a dream. Im just trying to get it to sit level.

I also tow a 7000 lb. trailer. I have the weight distributing hitch and the airbags. Before I cranked the torsion bars to level the front end with just the weight distributing hitch it sat pretty level. But after the torsion bar lift the truck looked like it was squating pretty bad in the rear. I use the airbags just to level it back out. I have the 1200 lb. tongue weight hitch for mine. The nice thing about a weight distributing hitch is it will actually let you go with a higher tongue weight and tow weight than the hitch is rated because of the way it distributes the load throughout the whole truck frame. I would not rely solely on the airbags to level your truck.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to just get by with the bags. I already have on board air. I was going to level the front so it looks as if I have to have both. Thats a nice setup their Patch5a. Mine looks toyish next to yours.

I think you will see/feel a huge difference with the WDH. I also forgot to ask you if you have an anti-sway set up. I highly recommend that also. Not that this is a good thing but I have towed my trailer at 75 MPH for long distances and it never sways at all. Thanks for the compliment on my trailer set up.

I tryed a friends wdh. It didnt seem to make much diffrence. May have not been set up properly so I figured I would try to get some info before I bought my own. I dont have a sway control for it. I never tow above 65 mph and I never had a problem with swaying. When I get my dh hitch Im going to get one.

MrHemi, the half doors at the back of the trailer are for loading all kinds of equipment. I load the kids bikes in there along with my grills all kinds of stuff. The bunks fold up out of the way to give you a huge storage area, and then after you get to your camp site you just unload and fold the bunks back down. I really like the extra space they provide.

Thats the problem with leveling them out. The weight dist hitch moves weight off the tongue, can bring your truck up about 4" depending on the trailer and tongue weight. When you put the trailer on the ball, lock it down then run the jack up a little beyond where you truck normally sits where the jack is basically jacking up the back of the truck! Then put the bars on where they have some tension on them but not too much, then let it down, it works well makes the truck not bob and weave going down the road, and pulls better all the way around!!! I hate the front end bounce and weave when your running heavy loads without it!
