I hope this shows the Dodge teams what they can do if they work together! It's time to show everyone that Dodge is the car to beat. I miss the race (was not on in Cancun) but I hope to see it on a repeat broadcast. THIS IS WHAT DODGE HAD TO SAY:
To: All Dodge Dealers I would like to share some great news! Yesterday was truly a special day in the history of the Dodge brand and our company. In front of more than 200,000 fans in the stands and millions more on global television, Dodge Charger driver Ryan Newman won the 50th running of the “Great American Race” -– the Daytona 500. Dodge did not just win this special race, we dominated. In a demonstration of champion caliber teamwork, Penske Racing stablemate Kurt Busch pushed Ryan across the finish line cementing a dramatic 1-2 punch that knocked out Toyota, Chevy and Ford. It did not stop there. The awesome Dodge Charger power brigade kept coming with relentless force as Dodge finished with six of the top-eight final positions and more than half of the top 15. There were other Dodge moments worthy of celebrating: All five Dodge teams that qualified for the race had at least one car in the top 11 Robby Gordon, in his first race in a Dodge, finished eighth Sam Hornish, Jr. finished 15th in his first ever Daytona 500 and earned the Raybestos Rookie of the Race award Dodge’s performance in the golden anniversary of the Daytona 500 was a tremendous example of focus, perseverance and teamwork, demonstrating what we can accomplish when we all work toward one goal. I was proud to represent all of you in victory lane with Ryan and Roger Penske as they accepted the golden Daytona 500 trophy. Racing is in the DNA of the Dodge brand. Involvement in NASCAR provides us with the opportunity to connect with many of our customers. Our performance brand was in championship form last night, like never before.
