After having my magnaflow kit on for over a year but only having 13000 miles on the truck and slightly less on the system, i hear some exhaust ticking. The clamps that come with the kit are rotted out but seem to be tight. I soaked them with PB Blaster but they won't budge. The biggest tick is coming from the joint between the y-pipe and 4 foot pipe leading to muffler. Has any one else had this happen??? I was thinking of switching the clamps out for those wider 2 bolt band clamps. The question is what size because one end of the pipe slides over the other. Do they make the proper sized reducer in one side of the clamp?? I really hate thata tick but i also don't want to have it welded unless completely necessary. Any tips or pix would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yea, you have to cut it off with a sawzall and then pry the end of the pipe off.
You will end up with this.

Sawall, grinder, cut off wheel. or a torch if you're real old school. haha

And I know summit or jegs has a clamp that will fit 2.5 OD on one side and 2.5 ID on the other side. I have an extra one if you can't find one. I meant to order 2.5ID by 2.5 ID but I accidentally got the wrong one.

Another thought, Take it to a shop and just tell them to take care of it. Shouldn't cost much and they can put it on a lift to get a good look at it.

HA
thats almost exactly what mine looked like. I added the cordless sawzall to my 19.2 craftsman kit just for this reason. I even ground the little tit off with the sawzall.

Isn't it 3" pipe from the factory tho?? The magnaflow kit is also 3" but I'm not sure if its inside or outside diameter dunno

If you are not happy with the sound, then it's worth it. A little time and a sawzall and a grinder (I used) is not to bad. And the truck is high enough to work on it without jacking it up. Can't do that on my Chevelle or Miata. lol.

You are right. Factory is 3". I didn't know what size you had. My duals are 2.5"

I've never noticed any drone. Any way nothing would be so bad if you listen to the radio all the time like I do.
I'll try to get a sound clip next time I go out.

It sounded nice with the resonator on, but it's way better without and I have noticed no drone. It's not much louder normal driving but noticebly more aggressive at half or WOT. Worth it in my opinion. I've been real busy lately and I'm sorry to say no vid of post-resonator-removal yet but soon

my Magnaflow clamps had the size marked on them. The one that connected to the factory pipe is 2.75" I believe, not 3"
Do you have a set of calipers? that would be quick and tell you for sure.
I tried adjusting the magnaflow clamp after it was on there for only a month and the bolt snapped so I replaced it with one from the parts store without any further incident.
I never had any luck with the band clamps.
