Magnaflow Y-Pipe/AT3030XL/Rear Resonator

Wow Sil that really sounds awesome! Thats the exact sound I have been waiting for. My muffler is supposed to be here on Friday. I'm hoping to get a shop to put it on Sat. From the way you describe it Tanky, I think I can live with it until I get a programmer. On my 04 I had the Gibson set up and it resonated SOOOO bad. It didn't have that "growl" sound that the AT does. It was more like just a constant roar.

There's no drone with this setup. You could probably lose one of your two resonators and be fine.


Here's a short clip of the wife driving away from the house. Can't really drive fast in the neighborhood, but it gives you an idea of the sound at take off.


You can definitely hear the exhaust.

I went with the 3030. The guys at the muffler shop looked at me through the "straight through" muffler and said "this thing's gonna be loud". I figured if it was too loud, i could e-bay it and then get the 3030XL. When I went to pick the truck up, same guy said "you know? That thing is really not that loud. I like it". I'm thinking that i like it too; I've had it on for 2 days now and am really enjoying it. It has a very nice noticeable "growl". I did leave the stock rear resonator on and I do plan on leaving it there. Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions and especially Sil for the videos. I'm gonna try to get a pic and/or video/sound clip up shortly.

I just ordered the 3030, did you bolt that up to the existing pipe ?

I had Mineke do the install. They cut out the stock muffler and placed the 3030 as far back as possible. They had to add a piece of pipe in front of the muffler about 12 or 14" long with a slight offset. Everything's welded and I'm 100% satisfied with the install and sound.

How does it sound with the MDS ?

I have an '04 so I don't have MDS. I believe I recall reading some of these posts that this doesn't sound as bad as most other mufflers though.

HEMIFY, It doesnt sound that bad with MDS. I have the 3030XL. Put it on just over a week ago and love it. I thought it would have that four banger sound when it kicked in but it doesn't. Its more like a deep mellow pulsing kind of sound. I left the front and rear resonators on and I couldn't be any more happier with the way it sounds. When I run it in tow/haul with the MDS disabled it sounds perfect. So once I get my programmer and permanently disable MDS I think it will be exactly the sound I wanted.
