The XL has a resonator.

My setup consists of the AT3030XL, and I kept the stock rear resonator. The muffler was moved slightly back, so it's located under just under the bed. I have no drone and it's mellow during idle. It screams when you get on it. No popping. Just a smooth sounding rumble.

If you're not worried about loud, you can dump it. Warning though, they are loud. Wink

MDS can be annoying with an aftermarket exhaust. I have a Superchips and I disable MDS with it. Truck now sounds like my 04 did.

Sil

iagree

You will love this exhaust, there are so many exhausts out there and this one is as its made for Hemi engine.....very quiet with stock resonator if you are using XL and boy people know when you get on it burnout

congrats

I agree. With the rear resonator, it's great sounding and no drone.

Thanks for all your help BDH and the video! The video sealed the deal. Smiler

I can have this installed in the stock location and dump it right? Then if its unbearably loud, I can always put the rear res back on. Shouldnt be too much trouble for the muffler shop. Any suggestions?

Darn Sil, now I wish I had the 3030XL. I love that sound and if you say there is no drone, I will take your work for it. I think I will go that route.

Tom,

Definitely no drone. I'm amazed and it sounds tough. I couldn't be more pleased. I just asked my wife now, who drives it more often because of my commute and she said it sounds perfect. She would tell me. I had a Magnaflow catback on my 2004 that had a specific drone she couldn't stand. hehe Wink

Yes you could do exactly that. Make sure you tell them your possible plans though, so you can keep the stock parts.

I would like 4 samples of 3030xl set ups on the '06-'08's all run to the rear, and all with a period with the MDS working:
1- with just the front reso (to specify, the rear reso removed) single out.
2- with just the front reso (to specify, the rear reso removed) dual out.
3- both reso's removed single out.
4- both resos removed dual out.
Can anyone point me to these? I would like to go SI/DO, but it does depend on the sound. HoustonHemi's was all removed, so that covers the dumped. Sil's covers with all 3 resos. Thanks for the help, MJ

MJ,

The 2008 doesn't have a front resonator. My setup: Magnaflow Y-Pipe/AT3030XL/Rear Resonator.

MDS is deleted through SC.

Ok I am 99.9% sold on the 3030XL. And your testamony Sil pretty much sealed the deal.(No pun intended) Just one Question, With the rear resonator how does it sound if the MDS does kick in? I have an 07 and it has the front and rear resonators. At this time I just cant do the tuner and exhaust, so I just want to go with exhaust for now. The sound clip you provided is with MDS disabled. I will run it with both resonators and a AT 3030XL out the stock tail pipe. I want VERY little to no interior drone or resonance.

Wes,

With both resonators and the XL's built in resonator, drone shouldn't be a problem. I think just about any aftermarket muffler will amplify MDS kicking in. It's the nature of the MDS beast. Since you won't be going with a tuner for now to disable MDS, keeping the resonators and swapping out the muffler seems the way to go. Smiler

It's been awhile but I had both at one time before I removed them and sold the muffler. MDS isn't too bad but still noticeable. No matter what muffler you buy, you WILL hear it...some handle it better than others. What I recall was I didn't get the horrific sound when MDS was engaged, but more of a laid back V6 sound I guess. MDS is just a pain, anyway you go. Just how it is. Good luck!

So guys, I've been a member for a while but this is my first post. I'm planning on the AeroTurbine for my '04 very shortly; just can't decide whether to get the XL or not. I want no interior drone and plan on keeping the stock resonator and tailpipe. Is the regular 3030 that much louder than the XL? I want the sound (more than stock) but not be obnoxious, and by reading here; XL seems to be the way to go.

Welcome aboard MoltenRedRam - we're glad you joined us! If you're planning on retaining the stock resonators, then the AT3030 is the way to go. The 3030XL with stock resonators would just be way too quiet!
