I know there are alot of previous discussions about what exhausts are preferred, but gets kinda all over the place.
I have an '06 Ram Hemi with the MDS. I am looking for performance and the performance sound. Not trying to be loudest on the road, just want to wake up the hemi and hear that performance roar. I was going to go with the Banks Monster Exhaust until I got onto the forum and saw all these discussions and read about resonance issues and other exhuasts. Im just trying to get some feedback of whats sounds best/works best. Anything helps. Thanks. |

I got an 07 with MDS and i'm currently running flowmaster 40 series on it with 2.5" piping. It sounds great under medium to heavy throttle but when you just trying to keep the speed constant and the MDS kicks in it sounds like dookie...but i guess that the price we pay for MDS. Just my .02!!!

forgot to mention that i'm currently in the process of switching to the cherry bomb extreme muffler cuz i want something louder. The flowmaster is loud but i think theres more potential with this beast on an engine. I"ll let you know how it turns out as far as sound and resonance and what not.

Thanks for the heads up. Yea, let me know how that goes for you. Anyone else have any suggestions?

when i started toying with louder exaust on my 06 i had the actual muffler removed leaving both front and rear resonators in place. this was hardly noticable at idle, gave me a nice rumble while driving and a slight drone when the MDS kicked in. wanting it a tad louder i decided to ditch the rear resonator (chopped it off with a sawzall just leaving it so it dumps down just behind the rear axle) this not only made it louder but it damn near deleted the drone, it's almost un-noticeable now. it's a bit louder than i would like now so when i get the funds scraped together i will have the front resonator removed and install a Dynomax Turbo to duals exiting behind the rear tires.
all of the experimenting i have done so far has been cheap, i had a local shop remove the muffler adding a straight pipe at a cost of $20 and i removed the rear resonator myself costing a sixpack (hey i don't work for free.....even for myself LOL)! i am told that the custom bending from the y pipe back will be $300 plus muffler. hope this helps 06 QC 4X4 Hemi Ram Custom Cold Air Intake Electric fan conversion Custom catch cans Bully Dog Power Pup 3" Body Lift Kicker 10" sub Kicker 500.1 amp will weld for food |

Check out Corsa. I have it on my 06, it sounds awesome and love it. Driving around it's louder than stock, but not too loud, quiet on the highway, but really opens up when you nail it. Their use of sound cancelation technology allows for almost unrestricted straight through exhaust flow. They also guarantee NO resonating or drone. Picking a system for an MDS truck is a balancing act between performance, how much you want to spend and how much you can put up with (resonance and drone). Corsa is among the highest of the first 2 and is the least of the last. It's also all stainless steel.http://www.corsaperf.com/autohome.htm You're smart to research this. A couple months ago at Walmart I had a this guy asking me questions about my mods and he said he wished he knew about the resonance and drone issues. He said he dropped around $650 on his system (magnaflow muffler and all new pipes by a local shop) for his 07. Likes the sound-hates the exhaust. Said the resonance and drone are killing him. Gives him headaches on the highway and he feels embarrased when he has to explain to people who ride with him what that noise is and why he puts up with it. He wished he would have left it stock or at least saved his stock system. As soon as he can afford it he said he's changing it. If not for this site, I would have done the same thing. |

thanks for the feedback tigman250. nice on the experimenting. ive been saving up and now its time to purchase...just didnt want to be dissapointed, so need to ask around.
bill3491 thanks for the info. the site had some sound clips and i like how they gaurantee no drone. reading about the MDS and how it reacts to the exhuast has made me regather my thoughts. if i buy somethin its goin to be that i definitely know thats what i want behind my engine. thanks again, lots of help. does anyone have any comments about AT3030, AT3030XL, Banks Monster Exhaust, Gibson, or Cherry Bomb, or Magnaflow? I appreciate the responses! |

I did a nice easy change and it sounds pretty good with no drone and on hwy with windows up can barely hear it....I took off the factory muffler leaving the only resonator on (rear) and replaced it with a magnaflow part no 13741 for $65 delivered to my door and it fit right back up in the stock location all you need is to band clamps to hold it on nice and easy took me 15 minutes.and if you want you can always switch it back for whatever reason...........chris 07 Hemi

I have the Gibson Extreem dual and I have no drone on the highway, just in town at slow speeds. Hit the tow haul button and goes away. Nice rumble, and highway is good.

I have had 3 mds hemis counting my 08 now I have had magnaflows , flowmasters no mufflers, and now a cherry bomb extreme if you run the tailpipes all the way to the back bumper the mds sound wont be to bad at all. The 40 series flowmasters resonated the worst of all them. The cherrybomb I have now is loud but not much louder than the flowmaster. Being a single chamber I figured it would be REAL LOUD.

I have all resonators cut off and a Magnaflow 1 in/2 out muffler (not sure the model number) with turndowns right off the muffler just aft of the cab. It's pretty much always loud, except on the highway. When mds kicks in it sounds like hell, just like almost anything else, but it's by no means unbearable.

I have a Flowmaster 50 series on my 08. No MDS chatter, sweet sound. The 08's only have/had 1 resonator and it's gone. Flowmaster has a new muffler for Dodge with MDS, 1 in 2 out. Not to loud, but a decent rumble.
