I Just Purchased An 08 Ram, Im Wanting To Have My Muffler Shop Just Cut The Muffler Off, And Put On A Y Pipe And Run Duals Out The Back, How Will This Sound With The MDS ?? I Want It Loud As I Can Get It Just Not Crappy Sounding If Ya Know What I Mean, Are There Any Other Options?? Thank You For Any Help !

i belive a little furthr down on the the fourm a guy did thid with his mega cab..so there was no mds...but it did sound sweet...if the mds really bother you...you could drive around in tow haul or od off

I think that may be his "other truck"... his sig line says that the cummins is an 03... the truck he is asking about the straight pipes, is an 08.

To answer the question about straight pipe and an MDS Hemi... Not a good idea... read some more topics, and do a search for a "1/4 wave tube". Have not seen, or heard one personally, but the theory behind the sound frequency cancellation is solid. You may have to experiment with different tube lengths to find the right length to kill the MDS drone.

The Truck Im Asking About Is My other One, I Just Purchased It, Its An 08 With A Hemi, And Im Trying To Figure Out What The Loudest Best Sounding Exhaust I Can Do Is,

The loudest and best sounding is always a preference from one person to another. Personally I own the at3030xl made by aerotubine. And if I wanted a loud good sounding exhaust I would get dual at3030's without the built in resonator in the muffler like the xl does. I would have that system I described but I dont want a badass exhasut system I spent alot of money on that sounds awesome to only have it sound funny in mds mode. Loud and good sounding dont really go together with mds. Some members on here have loud exhaust and the mds doesnt bother them, otheres, it drives them crazy. I think corsa makes the only exhasut kit that claims no drone in mds. You could always leave the rear resonator on and replace the muffler with a better flowing muffler so it still has performance and just install a electric cutout before the muffler and can leave it open when you want to be loud and have it closed when you dont want to be anoyed by the sound. There is tons of topics on exhaust and mds, just search threw them and look at video clips on youtube. And on the new hemi!

i have dual straight back pipe with the y on my 08 it doesnt bother me one bit with the mds i have the flowmaster super 40 just the way i want it...i like how the at3030 sounds on youtube wouldnt know in person...i dont have the stock resantor....if the mds bothers you you can just drive it on od off or tow haul

Take a look at the next thread down "thoughts with newest setup". Will give you an idea what you may encounter with the mds. His is dumped but you can get the idea of what the mds can create.

TxTecHhemi put it perfect, the louder you are, the louder the mds will be. There used to be a guy running around here with a ridiculously loud 06 w/duals. I doubt he had a muffler. I was next to him one time in my car and it sounded good, but when the mds kicked in it sounded like total S**T. The 5500lb 4 banger sound, as I call it, was as loud as some of the annoying little ricers running around here.

just try it the worst that can happen is having to put a muffler before the Y pipe, i had strait pipes before it's fun for a wile but it's not a "healthy" sound, it's kinda crappy. Now if you want it loud with a nice tone the Moroso Spiralflow it's the meanest i ever herd, cheep too.

What music Tony, the stuff I herd wasnt music. Exhaust sounds awesome though.

Im Also Considering Putting A Muffler On Instead of Just The Strait Pipes, Like Maybe A Cherry Bomb Extreme Anybody Have Experience With These??, Or Something I Just Like My Trucks Loud I Guess, What Are Some Of The Meanest Sounding Mufflers??
