Im kinda torn between the borla and magnaflow dual exhaust. I had magnaflow duals on my f-150, and the mileage actually went down, and no i wasnt hammering down on the pedal anymore than normal lol. But my dad put the borla on his f-150 (same year, engine, ect) and got better mpg. My question is, does anyone on here have a borla system, and how do you like it. And for you guys with the magnaflow, how did it effect your mpg?

Mine went up a bit, but that could also be from the engine breaking in sine I put my magnaflow kit on with less than a 1000 miles on the clock. Right now depending on where I go I average from high seventeens to mid nineteens with normal driving

Magnaflow makes great mufflers and exhaust systems. However, IMO they are not the best choice for a HEMI Ram unless you can take drone. I put a Maganaflow( Muffler #12588 - SI/DO )on my 04 and it would literally make me sick the drone was so bad. On any other vehicle they are a good choice. It all depends on your drone tolerance. Some have said there is none on Magnaflow mufflers that make other people sick. There does seem to be at least some drone with Maganflow on the HEMI regardless of what muffler you run.

Borla is one of the top 2 exhaust mfg's out there. Only Corsa tops them IMO. Like Corsa however Borla is extremely over priced. They offer a great sounding muffler( more mellow like a muscle car - not obnoxious like a glass pack or Flowmaster 40 )and they are very good at combating drone in the HEMI. Expensive as all get out though as said.

However, I can maybe help you out there and save you some cash if you do it the way I am doing it...

Go to the following link...

http://wickednicky.com/borla-m...ter-in-dual-out.html

This will send you to an Internet exhaust retailer( I am NOT affiliated with him in any way )that sells the new(er )economy Borla muffler line = ProXS for dirt cheap money. The ProXS line is still all stainless construction and still carries Borla's million mile warranty. They also have the classic Borla sound. Usually these mufflers run anywhere from $120-$160+ depending on where you buy it. The price here will blow you away...

Part #40349 3" SI/2.5" DO = $84.00 + shipping! YES you are reading that right, just $84, and YES they are brand new in the factory packaging! I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and shipped it was just $98.56. A local muffler shop will use my muffler and bend up a system for just $250 and that includes SS tips( Vibrant )and welding every thing up. For $350 I can have a welded, dual outlet, system complete with SS tips and a Borla muffler. Can't beat that. thumb2

Granted that will be aluminized pipe and not SS like you get with the Borla kit but those are $800-$1000+. Aluminized will last a long time ( 5-7 years AT LEAST even in areas that use road salt )and for most people they will sell the vehicle long before aluminized pipe rots away. SS is nice but hardly required even in areas that get a lot of road salt in the winter.

Lots of people on Dodgetalk.com are starting to use this Borla ProXS 40349 and it is getting rave reviews. Great sound and minimal to no drone( depends on personal tolerance IMO ). You can help to ensure no drone by adding the factory resonator off your tailipie behind the cat on the front of the intermediate pipe. I am going to do that when I have my system done.

Prices for the custom pipe bending and install will vary. I would just make sure the pipes are aluminized at the least and not just regular steel. Regular steel rusts away fast even in dry, warm climates.

i always thought the pro-xs muffs were round like on the s-type catbacks for hemi jeeps, chargers, etc and were louder than the borla regular muffs. Either way thats a good price for borla anything

Nope, the ProXS is a newer, more affordable, muffler from Borla and is a traditional turbo/regular muffler shape.
