If you are using Windows, you have a program called Paint that can be used to resize pictures.
This is how to do it in Windows XP: 1. Go to Start (bottom left on your main screen). 2. Select All Programs. 3. Select Accessories. 4. Select Paint. 5. Once Paint is open, go to File. 6. Select Open and open the file you want to resize. 7. Then click on the Image menu and select Attributes. In that box you'll see the current size of the photo in width and height, the number you need to be concerned with is the Width. For a picture to be posted here at HTC it has got to be no more than 700 pixels in width. So, using a calculator, do the following: Put the width you want which is 700 on your calculator. Then divided by, the actual width of the current picture (step #7 above) you want to change. You'll come up with a number, which is the percentage in size of the picture that you want to change it to. For example: If my picture is 1280 pixels wide, I first put 700 on my calculator, then divided by 1280 and I come up with 0.546875. Move the decimal place two places to the right and forget every number past the first two and I end up with 54%. By resizing the picture by 54% it will now be no larger than 700 pixels in width. Now that you know the percentage needed, let's continue: 8. Select the Image menu and then select Stretch/Skew. 9. In the Stretch box, put the percentage in BOTH the Horizontal AND vetical places to evenly stretch the picture, then click OK. Note: Do not touch anything in the Skew box! They should both be "0". 10. Now all you have to do is save the picture in it's new size, select File and then Save as. Note: When I resize a picture, I've gotten into the habit of saving resized pics this way: If the file name is Hemi07.jpg (for example) I always add the small letter "s" to the end of it. That way I know it's the "smaller" version of the same picture, for example Hemi07_s.jpg, and I have not lost my original picture size. Your new saved picture is no more than 700 pixels in width and can be posted here at HTC with no problems at all. Once you've done it, you realize how easy it is. Pup P.S. Print this out and keep it handy. This message has been edited. You can also download the windows re-sizing tool for free from Microsoft. Once its installed you just right click on the pic you wanna use. Then it gives you multiple options of sizes to choose from.

Microsoft resizer is a lot easier but this beats nothing for sure.
Steve is there a way to reduce the resolution of a picture? A 600X440 picture runs form way down in the 50k to 2400k range. Since there is a 300k limit here it causes a few problems. I'll never under stand how I can copy a picture from here to my computer and try to repost it and get "exceeds file limits". |

What I've been using for years to resize and edit pictures is LViewPro. It is an older, simple software that can be downloaded for free. It works really well. I use it all the time. You can get it here.

Hey Jay. Where can you get CompuPic and is it a free download? I love the Microsoft re-size program but it doesn't let you change resolution.

IF you would like to change resolution there is a free program called "THE GIMP" it is an open source alternative to Photoshop. The learning curve is a bit high but for free software it is very powerful.

Thanks for the info. A couple of the pics I posted were edited by MrHemi to be more size friendly. The next time I post one hopefully he won't have to edit, it will be good to go. Good work Pup and thanks for the info.

Just wanted to remind those with a myspace account that myspace will now automatically resize any pic to an appropriate forum size just by uploading it to an album...its seriously like 4 mouse clicks to resize by uploading and post a pic here!
