President Kansas Chapter |
Hey folks, my fellow HEMI truckers...
Lately I've spent a lot of time away from HTC with work keeping me away from home, aka, out of state even. It's been a wild ride the last 4 months! I haven't been able to do the things I've wanted to do for my chapter, or my club, and it really rubs me wrong. I missed out on a lot of opprotunity's for the sake of my job. And what can I say, it is reality, it is what puts food on my table... or booth... or bar... well you get the point. The free time I had over the summer, I set out to go full bore to build a local MOPAR club called KC MOPARS. It worked well, it is still is to a point. But it's nothing like my true home here at HTC. Yes, my true home. Most of you know my past of being in several national custom car clubs of names you see stickered on their rides. I've been around. So when I call this my home, it's not something I say lightly. There's plenty of thought into it. Over the few months I've been away, I haven't forgotten any of you. I've only thought more about my chapter, my truck, the club in general, where I want to go with it, where it's going, how I can be apart of it, and even how I can inspire my chapter as well as the club. With the economy as it is, it's difficult for all of us. But when you ever seen SO many new Ram's on the road? Think about it. They're selling these things for not thousands, but ten's of thousands of dollars off sticker. Right down the street from me, $28k for a $42k Laramie QC 4x4. Wow! People are going to buy these things, and they are. These are ALL potential HTC members. I met up tonight with a new member of my chapter who lives down the street from me! My closest member yet! He's had his truck 3 months, brand new '08 rig. Already has rims on it, exhaust, and looking to do more. What can we say huh? People love these trucks! lol Had a great time with him and his wife, just the 3 of us! That's all it takes folks. Y'don't need a huge crowd, y'dont need a bunch of fancy trucks for cool pictures... those things are ALL bi-products of the one thing that makes HTC what it is: GOOD people. Good people like we see all the time on this website on a dialy basis doing helpful things for each other, and others outside of the club we get to hear stories about. So my challenge to all of HTC is this: If yer proud of yer club, represent it. For years the board and other mentionable names have made logo's, stickers, shirts, etc. for you to do just that. Many of you have them, and that's great! Take the next step now, and recruit! Those of you who live in states with no cabinet, make one! It's not hard at all. It's not like we drive Ferrari's, there's HEMI Ram's everywhere! Pull over and help someone change a flat. "You've just been helped by an HTC member." Hold that door open for the guy in the Chevy truck while yer sportin' an HTC shirt. I'm not saying you gotta have a banner across the back of yer truck like me, lol, but when I flash my lights to let that semi pull on the highway from the on ramp, pass on by and he see's my logo, he knows who did it. He could even look me up if he wanted to. I always sit in wonder if one of those guys have a HEMI truck back home and write down the website off the back of my truck to look it up when they get home. Even if you don't have a logo, yer driving a HEMI Ram folks. I'm proud to be a member of this club, and a representative of my chapter. My 2 year anniversery is in 12 days, and the last few weeks I've done nothing but mod my truck with all that overtime I made out of town, lol. My daily driver isn't getting any attention cause I missed my truck! lol I love my truck! Sorry Chrysler, I know the economy sucks and you need sales, but as cool as an '09 Ram or Challenger with a pistol-grip would be, I gotta stick with ole blue for a little while longer. May have to wait till she's paid off before I buy anything again. I hope I've inspired a few of you, at least made some think. These are my thoughts. I'm TheBoss, and I approve this message... |

well said...well said... that puts a simple perspective on things, makes things feel a bit more obtainable, for the newbies that may feel like they are just that "new member # 5043".. your not.. you sir, #5043 are the "next gen"... step on up to the plate, offer up YOUR ideas, be heard too... we are a truck site, we all have a single common interest... hemi trucks.. but once you get here, you may have noticed, we are most importantly, just one big ol' family. We dont care about how many mods you got, or what options you didn't get on your truck... we dont even care that you may be the 9th owner, and it has a gazillion miles on it. Fact is, you are here, and you, whether you knew it or not, have been "adopted" into "our" family... "your" family. This club is only as good as "we" strive to make it.

Indeed. Our love of our Hemi trucks is what brings us here. The people are what brings us back.

Well said The Boss. It truly is an amazing group of people. A broad spectrum of people all brought together by a truck, and a club. But we will always be family, even if we don't have the truck. I have met so many people here that would literally give you the shirt off their back if you needed it. I am proud to call it my extended family. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Yep, and don't forget people see that when you are not doing right either....so don't cut people off or pull out in front of them like other idiots do all the time. (Not saying you do that, just making a point that people will remember that too) I know I think about that every time I pass someone or come off an exit, or whatever, mainly because not only do I have HTC on the trucks, but my business site also! Funny you mention that. While I was out of town, thinking, I was seriously thinking about getting rid of her for a Challenger. But my biggest guilt trip to myself was letting my club down. Ya, I have a responsibility as President of my chapter, but just generally to my friends on here, I wouldn't be able to relate to them much. It burdened on me. If I had never been apart of this club, I coulda had a Challenger in my driveway! lol But then, I get home, drive my truck... take her to the track, run great times. I'm still hooked. I've had parts sitting here for her for 6 months that I haven't had time to put on. I finally made that time, and boy she is looking good. I love my truck! I'll release some before/after pics on my anniversery. |
