Who: Federal Transit Administration

What: Spending $1.8 million in federal stimulus money on the maintenance of Oklahoma River Cruise boats.

Why it's an outrage: Fewer than 12 passengers ride on each of the cruise boats' scheduled trips. Fewer than 11,000 people have gone for rides on them. Despite the lack of use and the clearly superfluous nature of these ships, why can't Oklahoma assume responsibility for them?

Where to vent: Call the regional Federal Transit Administration office at 312-353-2789.

Another bridge to nowhere

Who: Gov. Joe Manchin III, D-W.Va.

What: Provided $80,000 in federal stimulus funds from his discretionary fund to build a walkway bridge entering Hamlin, W.Va.

Why it's an outrage: The bridge would be constructed next to an already existing bridge that has a sidewalk. Town residents are furious because they were kept in the dark about the decision to request the funding and the decision to grant it.

Where to vent: Call the governor's office at 304-558-2000.

Generally, I don’t read fiction, but I am drawn like white on rice every day to the Obama administration’s daily output on recovery.gov, which purports to be the “facts” about where the $787 B stimulus bucks are being spent and so on……….

As of today, recovery.gov reports ONLY $207.3 B of the $787B has been spent since February. WAIT A MINUTE.

Economic “stimulus” was an EMERGENCY when President Obama took office. It was such an emergency we didn’t get to read it first, remember? So why, 10 months later, have we not even spent HALF of the stimulus bill????
