A threatening letter containing an unidentified white powder was sent to a John McCain campaign office in Centennial, but the letter was apparently a hoax. The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department says it was determined the substance was not lethal and not toxic. Sheriff’s officials say county jail inmate Marc Harold Ramsey is suspected of sending the letter with the substance. Another letter sent to a McCain campaign office in New Hampshire was initially reported to contain a white substance, but authorities say that was a false alarm. Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley says he doesn't know the content of that letter, which had a Denver return address. Outside the Colorado office, which was evacuated, at least 19 people were examined at hospitals or were quarantined. They were later sent home. Andy Lyon of Parker South Metro Fire Rescue Authority says the first line of the letter sent to the Colorado office used threatening language.
