The 4 day work week would benefit me and the company I work for (especially their utility cost). Toyota has been pushing around the idea of a 4 day week and if that happens then I might very well see a 4 day week which I am not going to complain one bit about. However, Congress wants their own 4 day work week. I would like to tell them to go f*** themselves.

Out of my over 350 customers, I would guess that about 1/3 are on a 4 day work week. Doesn't mean they are closed down, usually half are off on Monday and the other half on Friday. There are a couple that no shit shit down on Friday.

As for the Fedaral Government, there are obviously some functions that could do a lot of work from home. I'm not talking about lawmakers or customer service types but there are a ton of cubicle dwellers that if they didn't show up at work but instead worked from home, no one would miss them.

Good point, didn't think about that aspect but can I still tell Congress to go f*** themselves. Big Grin

Wow, if 4 is better, look what you could save with just working one day a week.

My job is 24/7. I don't think that would work for me.

My company works 4-10's.
Any over time needed is worked on your day off, all voluntary, but we have no problems getting plenty of people to work.
We have people working Mon. through Thur., and Tues through Fri. We also have people working 3-12's, and are paid for 40, they work Fri. through Sun.

Yeah we used to have 4 10's when I was with the Army. We got to choose between friday off or monday off. Some that couldn't stand the 10 hour days chose the 5-4 9's in which every monday or friday you either had it off or an 8 hour day. Whenever holidays landed on your day off you took thursday or tuesday off.

Here at this new gig, we have the 9 hour days or regular 8's. The reason they got rid of the 10's was because every holiday you get 8 hours paid. That means you have to make up an hour if a holiday landed on your day off. Since we can't work more than 10 hours a day, people on the 4 day week were forced to take vacation or leave without pay.

Here is the kicker though....when you accumulate enough sick time, you start to use it or lose it. That means, people who have been here a while and have unused sick time and it accumulates to where they're maxed out can then use sick time added to the reduced work week to be on a 3 day work week Eeker

I'm still with spainy on this one...they can go f themselves with a fire hydrant!

There is a difference between a 4 day work week and working from home. Working from home is still work and being "on the clock."

Oh yeah, and yes congress can go F#(k themselves moon

Yes technically there is but in corporate speak that's what it means. My company has every one on a 40 hour work week. I work 60 to 70 and never step foot into a company facility and don't get over time.
